The Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRCN) has directed Stanbic IBTC Holdings Plc to withdraw what it described as “misleading financial statements” for the years ended December 31, 2013 and 2014, and also suspended the group’s Chairman, Atedo Peterside, and the Chief Executive Officer, Sola David-Borha, among others. Shares of STANBIC declined almost 5% yesterday to close at N 20.76 per unit at the Nigerian Stock Exchange in Lagos. Shares of STANBIC are held mostly by institutional investors so we should not expect much of a reaction to the stock price. It is a somewhat managed stock with low volumes.
