And you said he didnt impress yet again... Like he never impressed before? The best thing to come outta La Masia since the emergence of the Alcantara's brothers is Samper. That guy is a gem. Plus he didnt play his usual DM role. He played CM role alongside Kaptoum. pelvicky: |

TAX EVASION

The Barcelona star testified to
covering up several payments
when he appeared in court on
Thursday
Barcelona midfielder Javier
Mascherano has pleaded guilty to
tax evasion after appearing at a
Spanish court on Thursday.
The Argentina star was accused
of failing to alert Spanish
authorities to earnings totalling
more than €1.5million, reports
said.
Mascherano is alleged to have
used companies he owns in
Portugal and the United States to
cover up two payments for
image rights in 2011 and 2012.
A spokesman for Mascherano
told Argentine news agency
Telam: "The defendant
acknowledged the facts and his
responsibility for tax evasion."
Claims in the Spanish press said
that Mascherano has already paid
€1.5m to the tax office with a
further €200,000 in interest, and
it is thought that by pleading
guilty he will avoid a prison
sentence.
The 31-year-old has been the
subject of controversy lately, after
he was banned for two games
for insulting the referee in
Barcelona's 3-1 victory over Eibar
last Sunday. |

13 years since Andrés Iniesta's debut in Bruges The current FC Barcelona captain wore the first team jersey for the first time in a Champions League match in Belgium way back in 2002. He's worn it another 557 times since and counting... Recovering from injury Iniesta celebrated his 13th anniversary as a first team player by joining the squad for Thursday’s training session following their 0-0 draw in Villanovense. He suffered a hamstring injury in the Champions League game with Bayer Leverkusen, but is back playing football again and should be declared fully fit very shortly. It was Tuesday 29 October 2002, thirteen years ago today, that Andrés Iniesta made his first team debut for FC Barcelona in a Champions League match against Bruges. And the rest, as they say, is history. The 18-year-old would go on to be one of the artifices of the greatest Barça team ever assembled, as well as being one of the finest players ever to wear the Spanish national jersey. First team captain following the retirement of his long-term colleague in midfield, Xavi Hernandez, it was Iniesta who lifted the last of many trophies that he was won over the years – the European Super Cup in Tbilisi. Andrés Iniesta has scored 59 goals in 558 games for Barcelona in that time, putting him behind only Xavi (767) and Puyol (593) in the all-time ranking for appearances. He has played a huge role in the many successes that the club has enjoyed in recent years, perhaps the most outstanding memory of all being his last second goal at Stamford Bridge that ensured passage to the 2009 Champions League Final. Carles Naval: 'Van Gaal just told him to getIniesta hails from the village of Fuentealbilla in Castile la Mancha, but at the age of just 12 he left his family to become a resident of La Masia at FC Barcelona. He rose up through the youth ranks and on 5 February 2001 was invited for the first time, by then manager Serra Ferrer, to join a first team training session. A year later, with Louis Van Gaal on the bench, his big chance finally arrived. As he remembered in an interview published several years later in Barça Magazine, “I felt very comfortable that day. A lot of B players went on that trip because the team had already qualified for the next round. It was a dream come true to make my first team debut and I thank Van Gaal. I had been training with them for most of the season, and I think I did pretty well in that game”. He was named in the starting line-up and was an immediate hit as he helped Barça to a win in Belgium thanks to a goal from Riquelme. “He wore the number 34 and the boss just told him to get out on the pitch and play’ remembers FCB delegate Carles Naval. And Iniesta did what he was told and came very close to marking his debut with a goal from a fine strike that hit the Bruges crossbar. Iniesta was not the only youngster on the field that day. Van Gaal also handed a debut to Tortolero, while also opting to field Sergio Garcia and David Sánchez. And the team also included a number of fellow ex-residents of La Masia, namely Puyol, Gabri, Fernando Navarro and the current manager of Barça B Gerard López, who recalls how “there were a lot of homebred players that day and that was good for him. And we won the game, which was important too.”

Pele don dey use style blast neymar.2 years ago he said neymar was the best in the world now this... . . ,. . The footballing icon believes Brazil have had many players much better than the Barcelona forward and suggested he is one-dimensional Pele does not consider Neymar to be a truly great player, as he feels his compatriot cannot defend or score with his head. The Barcelona player is the star of the Brazil national team and is said to have the potential to be one of the world's best. However, Pele, who won the World Cup three times with Brazil, acknowledged Neymar is the best in the current Selecao team, but believes the country has had many players who are far superior. "Neymar is a good player, but how many goals has he scored with his head in his life?" Pele pondered in an interview with Placar . "He is an excellent player, but Vasconcelos, my team-mate at Santos, was 10 times better than Neymar, without any doubt. "Neymar is an attacker, he plays up front, that is it. He does not track back, does not organise and does not come out to play. "It's difficult to compare him with so many players of the past when he has such weaknesses. Although, within the current Brazil team, he is the main figure, the only one." Pele also offered his opinion on Neymar's Barca team-mate Lionel Messi, who he considers to be the best in the modern era, but also pointed out some weaknesses. "Messi, as I have always said over the last 10 years, is one of the players I consider superior," Pele said. "But he doesn't use his head. He predominantly uses his left foot and is not ambidextrous. Today he is the best. "Messi has the same style as Maradona, the same kind of game. He is lucky because there is no one to compare him |
