There are basically 3 types of engines for regular vehicles viz: I4, V6 & V8.
I4- 4plugs
V6-6 plugs
V8-8 plugs.
There is nothing like V4. It is an unprofessional (layman) way of referring to an I4 engine.

People the V in engine is type of the engine block
That was designed to be more stable than a straight engine
Because the length of the crown shaft in a straight 6 cylinder make it's stability low at the high rate of gas explosion insaid the cylinder and also V shap of engine makes it possible for you to add more cylinder insaid a small engine room. Like V8 V10

NOTE THAT WE ALSO HAVE V4 even V2
V IS JUST A SHAP OF ENGINE BLOCK

Vw bitls have a small engine room but but by V shap type 4 cylinder was installed
Subaru the same
Vw transporter
Honda cd 195 is the example of V2 THANKS
