switesthart:Nigeria's economy is not on a downward spiral, i can liking what is happening on a micro economic level to a household where though a father gives his children their allowance, he leaves his briefcase carelessly in the house. With a false sense of ecomy the children kept embarking on spending spree buying all sorts of frivolity. Once this father realises his folly the children's economy returns to what we have now. It is my belief that the prudence of PMB for now is what we are feeling, slush funds are no longer flying around looking for avenues to hide like real estate, hence the lull in that sector and most luxury market. All talk of a rebased economy before now was sham, Nigerians should be grateful that PMB came on board at a time like this to curb excesses, the economy would ve collapsed under Gej. Thank god we are not in recession, i believe that we would get through this. Even though the president may not be perfect, i can see he is sincere |

vigasimple:He only became President because a regional party (Acn) just wanted to see what it feels like to be at the centre and call the shots. But unfortunately they were schemed out of all spheres of influence at the national level by the Fulanis. Now we are left with this. |
Group of novice labeling themselves as Civil Society. Was the economy doing well before? past administration only rebased it on paper which does not reflect on citizens standard of living. Where do you even expect the economy to head with the monumental corruption recorded in the past administration. One thing at a time, the President has blocked all those loopholes and looted funds are being returned presently, once everything takes it shape and the cabinet is set up, economy would improve effortlessly. Just a matter of time [/we all knew d economy was bad before we voted him..you keep shouting corruption yet not much moni have been recovered..pls lets look beyond party, jonathan economy wasnt encouragin buhari own is dissapointing |

Dullard is going to tumble the nation economy. He is going to ruin things further and I feel really disappointed by that. This is a big shame on those who voted him into power. He is the biggest scam in the Nigerian political history, ever! |

switesthart:What economy is crashing? Like seriously? Babe i am not sure you have been listening or reading the news lately? You pointed out that no funds have been released since the inauguration of this government... Chai you fall my hand. Where did you think the government got the money to bail out the states that were owing its workers? The inauguration ceremony? The independent day celebration? The day to day running of the government?.... it's OK to be ignorant and keep it to yourself than come out in public to disgrace yourself. Do you even know the meaning of running a government in auto pilot...the running of a government without ministers is a clear definition and example of that word. Is there a difference between Ameachi and Deizani? both of them face Corruption "allegations", both of them have not been found guilty by any court for their crime, none of them is in jail...the only difference is that one is on a sick bed with cancer while the other is now a Minister. Welcome to Nigerian politics... Don't kill yourself. |

larion:You do realize it takes an upward of 50 years and even more to completely diversify an economy right. Truth is we've dug in our hills and now we are stuck in this mess. So quit bleating and deal with it. Oil is our mainstay, but, sadly, even that is not being adequately harnessed. For instance, we are still flaring gas despite that we cannot meet local and international demands. |

There are so many things to say about the posts on this thread, but let me summarise: Back in may, GMB said he won't work with the 2015 budget. So no need to shout. He's not listening. Brace yourselves, find a way to survive and ride out the hard times, 'cos they'll be here awhile. |

It didn't start today, even in 1984. Insurmountable economic problems plagued the Buhari regime as petroleum prices collapsed in the face of expanding foreign debt. Buhari instituted austerity measures that caused severe hardship to the average Nigerian. In addition, political corruption continued unabated, with politicians escaping to Western countries with millions of dollars in government money. In an effort to stop dissension, Buhari instituted restrictions on the press, political freedoms, and trade unionists. By August 1985 even the military had had enough, and Ibrahim Babangida took control of the government. Buhari was detained in Benin City but was released at the end of 1988. |
