The mid-20th century was a time of almost Victorian modesty.


I came across the bikini photos of the Miss Universe Contestants in 1964 and when I compared them to what obtains now I wonder if we are progressing or regressing.


Miss Nigeria 1964, Edna Park was our very first representative to an international beauty contest and she looked so different from what our idea of beauty now is..

Regression and progression are two relative terms. it depends on which side of the divide you stand.

Meanwhile, it's amazing how Nigerian representative decides to honour her countries culture with her attire or perhaps, that's what is obtained there.

We associate beauty with 'uncladness' nowadays. No wonder pegeants go unclad this days. Well, it's still being fair now ... In a matter of decades, they'd begin to bear it all. Let's wait and see!
