If the Ministerial portfolios circulating on the social media eventually becomes a reality in which former Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Raji Fashola (BRF) becomes Minister of Power of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, should we have every cause to be hopeful for betterment in power sector?

BRF is indeed an intelligent and hardworking man I respect so much, but could he be able to scale through with the burden of POWER in Nigeria?

With BRF as Minister of Power, Nigeria on the March again...!

The discovery of electricity is a pivotal in human history, as it helps drive the modern world such that to conceive the world without it is alien to virtually everyone’s mind. Modern societies are becoming
increasing dependent on reliable and secure electricity supplies to underpin economic growth and community prosperity. Nigeria, a developing nations and is more than most associated with the problem of power shortage and unstable electricity transmission, this situation has been infused into the system so much that the electricity situation is the direct opposite of developed nations, this epileptic power supply found in Africa’s most populous nation most definitely has hampered the growth of commercial activities in the nation making it unattractive for foreign business investment. Since electricity is the key to any nations (either developing or developed) economic growth, it is crucial this sector be fully functional and run efficiently.

Decentralize power

Allow states to keep the megawatts they generate to themselves

States like Niger states and gas producing states should be allowed to sell their excess electricity.

This will encourage investment in the power sector cool

He should pay serious attention to coal, which is found in commercial quantities in Enugu, Benue and Kogi states.

He must not be distracted by all the talk about gas, nor the views of some peolpe on pollution (due to high sulphur content of Nigerian coal) since our carbon footprint is still low
