Each time Nigerians begin to ask questions about the failure of this government, they manufacture fresh rumour against Diezani.

Last week was catastrophic for them re the Indian gaffe, worst week for the economy since 2008, NNPC loss, Revelation that the refineries worked @1.9% efficiency etc. It was so bad they had to do something to take people's attention away from their failings.

This is a good story to keep the sheeple in line while buying time.

Today01:
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has seized bullet-proof vehicles, huge cash and jewellery from five prominent Nigerians fingered in the money laundering allegation against former Petroleum Resources Minister, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke.
EFCC and its British counterpart, National Crime Agency (NCA), are probing the suspects for allegedly conniving with Alison-Madueke to commit the crime, it was learnt yesterday.
The former minister was arrested in London on October 2 for alleged money laundering, bribery and corruption.
EFCC has restricted the movement of the ”high-profile” suspects to Nigeria, pending the conclusion of investigation.
Some of them may be extradited to the United Kingdom (UK), if the former minister is going to face trial.
According to investigation, EFCC is still searching the companies and homes of more suspects linked with the former minister, following fresh clues.
Most of the areas under surveillance are in Abuja and Lagos.
A top source said: ‘’It is too early to declare whether they are guilty or not. But in line with international best practices, the EFCC has invoked the assets forfeiture clause in its Act to seize some choice bullet-proof vehicles, huge cash and jewellery from these suspects.
‘’The movement of the affected suspects has also been restricted to Nigeria pending the conclusion of investigation.
‘’The case at hand involves a high-net worth syndicate with tentacles across the strata of the society. But we are already cracking the investigation.’’
Asked if the suspects will be tried in Nigeria, the source added: ‘’It is uncertain or remote because the NCA has initiated a process in the UK, we will not want to duplicate the process.
‘’ If necessary, some of the suspects might be extradited to the UK for trial. This depends on NCA because EFCC is only collaborating with the agency.’’
It was learnt that some NCA officials are in the country to work with EFCC on the case.
A source said: ‘’Some officials of the NCA are in the country for collaboration with the EFCC on this investigation of the allegations against the ex-minister.
‘’The EFCC has more knowledge of the terrain than the NCA in tracking down some of these suspects.’’
Neither the EFCC nor the NCA was willing to speak on record last night.
Alison-Madueke and four others have been under investigation. On October 2, they appeared before the NCA team in the UK.
The names of the four remaining suspects are being kept under wraps in ‘’order not to jeopardise investigation.’’

The over 1billion loot we have so far recovered from the Americans, Swiss and others was just saved abroad for Nigerians by Abacha.

The hundreds of millions of dollars still going through legal process in USA before repatriation was also saved for us. Brilliant!

After Diezani, let the arrest Ex-governors and others too.

Questions?

1. Under what statute is EFCC authorised to confiscate properties of suspects without a court order?

2. When did those mentioned or hinted about appear in court?

Conclusion: Questionable

Unu nor dey rest,?? it has been proven the woman was not arrested in the Uk yet these news people will go on to keep dead news alive to deceive MUMUS in Nigeria.Anyone arrested in the UK who has such importance of an OPEC leader will be in all major news papers in the UK.The UK police do not arrest without evidence weather true or false and they charge you to court within 24 hours.
Why don't you acquaint yourself with how the legal system works, instead of misinforming others like yourself.

Two types of bail

There are, therefore, principally two common types of bail: firstly when the defendant is bailed without charge, the police will allow the defendant to leave the police station, usually under certain restrictions or conditions, and the defendant will be given a bail return date to return to the police station.

During the period in which the defendant is on bail, the police will carry out their investigations and then decide if the defendant will be charged when he returns for the bail return date.

At this point, the defendant will either be charged or be told that no further action is to be taken.

It has, however, become more common for police offices to bail the defendant again, once he returns for the bail return date, and continue investigations. Increasingly, therefore, a defendant can be on pre-charge bail for a number of months before discovering if they are to be charged.

Secondly, a defendant may be bailed once he has been charged with an offence.

If the police are confident the defendant will show up at court and not be a threat to the public in the meantime, they will generally grant bail, subject to certain conditions, and the defendant will be bailed until the court hearing date.

When the defendant has been charged, the police have far greater powers to refuse bail. However, the defendant has not at this stage been found guilty of anything and so cannot simply be imprisoned until a court hearing unless they pose a danger to a member of the public or there is a real concern the defendant will not show up for the court hearing.

But Mrs Alison-Madueke’s prominence has become now tinged with a less welcome threat of notoriety after officers from Britain’s National Crime Agency (NCA) arrived at various homes in London six days ago and arrested the former minister in charge of Nigeria’s vast oil industry along with four others as part of a two-year investigation into suspected bribery and money laundering.

The reason for the arrests by the recently formed International Corruption Unit (ICU) was not disclosed by the NCA, which has also declined to name those who were brought in for questioning and then released on police bail. None of those arrested have been charged but it is understood investigations continue both within Britain and abroad.

Are you deliberately being obtuse or is it that you are incapable of following a sequential trail of events? Which is it?
I am asking these questions because having been shown that a party of interest to the justice system can be arrested, and not necessarily charged within 24 hrs as you erroneously asserted, you have now decided to shift the goal posts.

Like I said earlier; if you don't know how the British legal system works, all you need to is ask.

For your information, Navin Ramgoolam (ex-PM of Mauritius) is another high-profile figure who is currently under investigation by the ICU.
Now I am almost certain that when his arrest was announced earlier this month, the good people of tMaritius did not go into denialist mode, as certain clannish Nigerians are wont to do -- http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/ex-prime-minister-of-mauritius-under-investigation-by-uk-anti-corruption-unit-a6679111.html

EFCC. a colloidal waste of time and money. So many fraudulent cases pending and each time the judgement is against them because of poor handling.

They need to be proactive and not reactive.

Nigerians are no longer fooled by thier antics. We await maina's story.

The EFCC comes hot on their heels and then go cold as interests grow in these cases.
