CoolUsername:If pastors were poor , the atheists will mock Christians - ridiculing this supposed messengers of a God who owns the universe and cannot even provide for his servants . Now they are wealthy , they say these pastors use religion as a tool to steal from the poor . Una get wahala |

KingEbukasBlog:Have you ever thought that maybe the reason why he ridicules religion is because he was once a Christian and discovered loop holes in Christianity? Even Johnydon22 was raised in the seminary. Are we to conclude that he is also a muslim because of he speaks against Christianity? ![]() |

Happily a Christian but I've been delivered from all the nonsense that surrounds religion. I do mine thinking for myself. Overall, the wrong application of religion by Nigerians is largely responsible for our backwardness and poverty. |

winner01: Lmao...please i was not ooo don't bring me into this with unfounded assumptions to make an analogy.. Becoming an atheist simply to me is embrace of reality and recognition that there is nothing to suggest that these concepts are nothing more than wishful thinking... Please i understand you are trying to make an analogy on why many people loose faith in religions or God concepts but please don't use me to do that again worse of all apply the use of such disgusting assumptions.... . . |

Religion has done more harm than good. I bet 80% of religious people are so for the fear of the unknown..Hell! I'm beginning to see how stupid I looked those times I engaged in religious arguments that never ends..... Over 100 world Religion, how can one say his is the true Religion? The op is so right about the Buddhist, very peaceful people unlike Islam and Christianity which claims to be peaceful but have brought nothing but tears and sorrow to this world especially Islam and trying to force others to accept their beliefs. Like you,I am not fooled anymore. For me,it's just one God revered in different ways. dearpreye: |

Choiiii. The more independently you think, the more you detest the beliefs that once appeared untouchable to you. Welcome to freedom. |

There are many things that can impoverish a nation .. -Politics -Religion -Bad economic policies. There are many factors actually and these most times banks on the gullibility of the masses. A perfect case study of how Religion can do this is the northern part of Nigeria, we all know the devastating toll religion has taken on them in every aspect of their lives. Or here in the south where Poor masses who don't have take the little they have to the pastor as tithe to God. Because the pastor said that bible said that God said you should tithe. There are countless way i can list out |

KingEbukasBlog:Are the religious leaders in Nigeria any better than the politicians? They are all the same. They use people's tithes and offerings and open universities, they set the price so high that the average church member can never afford. An average church member can never see with the pastor one on one and discuss anything. Many of their members are wallowing in poverty but they can not even help them. When was the last time you heard any body going to the church to seek for financial assistance over any problem. Yet the church is filled with people that have endless financial problems. You guys are all deluded. |

johnydon22:In Nigeria today the biggest gainers from bad governance and the very disorganized system we have are the politicians and the religious leaders. The politicians because they use the chaotic system to gain power, dominance and wealth and the religious leaders(pastors especially) use it to also gain power dominance and wealth just like the politicians. |

johnydon22:Yeah, you can say that again. But even if you were, you wouldnt tell a soul .I have a girl im currently working on sexually abused by her father, a family supposed to be a "christian family", worse is her mother keeps quiet about it. She hates her life right now. Ive been encouraging her for a while till she gained admission this year. That girl will hate God at any slight oppourtunity, but i bless God she has not walked into the path of She has joined a unit in her school church and shes more particular about Gods love for her. Christianity and Islam, throughout the arc of both of their histories, have been similarly violent and brutal. For example, based on the moral standards of today, John Calvin (a still well-respected Christian Reformation theologian) was as violent and wicked as the worst Boko Haram member. He oversaw the murder and burning of people who didn't agree with his theology (even fellow Christians like his former friend Michael Servetus). Abegi! Those responsible for the moral decay of our country have been Christians, Muslims, Deists, Atheists, Non-theists, and representatives from all other religions in Nigeria. Your claim that Christians are the ones "armed with the in-dept knowledge of the word of God!" is exactly equivalent to a Muslim claiming that it is his/her religion that is armed with the in-depth knowledge of the word of God or a Sango worshiper making the same claim. Stop conflating religion with morality. Throughout this religion section you make too many bold claims based on your "belief" and you provide zero evidence, yet you are quick to criticize those whose positions are based on evidence. winner01: Someone who hates Gods is a monotheist not an atheist seems you are confused about the two. Misotheism is a form of a theism but that person shares a kind of hatred for such concepts even though he/she thinks it exists. atheists don't think Gods exists or hate them, when an atheist use the tenets of religious beliefs to refute religious ideas or its god concept it is not the same as hating the god that you mostly confuse the two is of your own making. Till date i do not need gloat over dozens of people i have helped get through challenges in their life and i for one do not mention anything about unbelief to them. when you want to help someone do so, it is not ok to bank on the misfortunes of others to instigate religious supremacy or turn the person's mind against their belief Skepticism is a position that stems from pure curious rational honest in coincide with what is. what ever you think makes people turn atheistic simply really is your business they do not owe you any explanation on that. i have had the privilege of getting to interact with many people here on nairaland who Pm me with questions and i am confident to say that "most have shown to take on a position of unbelief in God concepts due to rational honesty and stark curious skepticism many don't even lean on unbelief but yet maintain a healthy nature of intellectual honesty" |

johnydon22:Stop wasting your time explaining things to some one who believes that those who challenged his beliefs and do not share his delusions are sad and in need of love. He feels people that do not believe like him are God haters . How can you hate something that does not exist? |

Antiparticle:What is this one saying ? Are you being pretentious or is this some sort of damage control . Where did you see me mention morality ? And which evidence are you talking about ? Why should the atheists blame pastors for the troubles facing country ? Anyway when some one lacks proper education such ignorant assertions are bound to be made |
