@MrSage, Pls can you share tips with me on how to do the Car Hire Business without partnering with these NURTW guys? I tried registering in their park, even after paying the agreed fee they don't allow "newbies" to pick passengers they tell you "Na Chairman Client". I tried looking for passengers on my own its a bit impossible @ most I get 2 jobs in a week.
I now had to resort to doing Kabukabu btw Iyana Oba to Seme route that is another tale entirely.

Pls I do I get client on my own for car hire business? Or in your opinion is their any other state that is more lucrative than lagos in terms Car transportation Business? Its my vehicle and I intend driving it myself.

If you are young and creative don't ever join those old men at the taxi park.
I will teach you what to do.
Business now has gone beyond sitting in one spot to wait for clients. That's old.

You should devise a means for people to know you. Imagine a situation where 5,000 lagosians have your phone number stored and they are ready to call you whenever they need a cab.

There is a complete need for re orientation in the Cab Business.

I don't have. I'm sure you can get that if you google uber Lagos.
These are some uber conditions I know :
1. The car should be below 100,000 miles
2. The car should not be older than 7years old and many more.

In my opinion as a cab /transport operator for over 2years. There is nothing special about Uber.

Fine it's good to sign up and they supply clients but if you build up your client base gradually, you will be just fine.

Do you know that Uber prices are cheap and that's not good for you because as a business man you should maximize your earnings.
Let me give you an example.
A ride from Ikoyi to Idimu in Lagos via Uber is N4,500. Idumu is prone to traffic so you may spend more on fuel. Maybe 1,500 to 2k.

However I will never go below 6,000 for such trip.

Maybe I should start a series on how to succeed in car hire/cab business. What do you think?

This is interesting. I have shared knowledge openly since the beginning of this thread. In fact, you are a major beneficiary. I have answered all your questions and even offered to share extra tips and idea.

No accusation here, my good man. I truly appreciate your contributions. That said, my previous mention was merely to stimulate a more robust discussion.

Putting it out here helps everyone as situations which may not have been thought of or encountered by some are brought to light and nairalanders can benefit from them to avoid pitfalls. I'm sure you've benefited from such on this forum.

Would you consider publishing some of those questions (anonymously) and your responses?

The police officers usually have a copy of the agreement. Just walk into a police station close to the drivers residence. If anything happens they will produce the guy.
Make sure the driver should produce a good guarantor.

Follow the driver to his house. Know his family including children , wives and even concubines and his ENEMIES.
Collect your money every week.

Another alternative is to get a lawyer to prepare the agreement. This will help. It's not usually so expensive. Even baby lawyers straight from law school can do this.

Yes mrsage, let's move our transportation biz 4ward. Wonderful contributions, advices and ideas since inception of this thread. For those reading and those yet to comment, I'd like 2 say av had a wonderful discussion and time with d Op privately. Thanks so much 4 all d efforts @mrsage.

As educated as I am, this is 1 industry that moves me anytime and am just waiting for a breakthrough, God knows I'll b limitless when d opportunity comes. One other fact av always seen everywhere, not limited 2 NL alone is dat transportation has always been pointed out as one of d most lucrative ventures in Nigeria up till dis moment considering u get all d factors mentioned in d previous posts right of coz.

It suffice 2 say as an investor, it will always b a win-win scenario hence d need 2 make good investments in dis sector. For some of us still looking for an opportunity, we can only hope 4 d best at dis time and keep praying 4 d survival of dis great income generating idea in Nigeria. Things will change when d likes of educated ones like us rub minds and bring in more 2 dis ancient and lucrative industry. God bless u all as u make views, interests and ideas known.

I am in interested in the transportation business in Edo State,, I have a list of my ventures,, please which is more safe to invest in;

1,Buy a 10 sitter commercially bus and put on daily Balance/ Hire purchase,,




2)Buy a tipper truck and start a haulage business,,

3)Buy a hummer Bus or Hiace bus and lease it out to a Transport company,,in PH /Onitsha,,


4)Buy a Hiace Bus and put it out on a shuttle Service in UNIBEN,,

In all these businesses, I need a honest driver,,How do I recruit a honest driver,,.

I planned starting an haulage business with a toks minibus. Which is what i can afford for now. Atleast to get constant income.

My plan is to transport goods FMCG products.

I talk to bakery already, they agree to pay N10 per loaf of bread deliver to their client within Lagos. And minibus can move upto 600 loaves at a go.

My constrain is it advisable to shuttle interstate with minibus. so i can extend the service to poultry farms in places like Oyo, Ogun e.t.c
