in as much dat i agree abt our decline at the senior level but the fifa ranking has never really been a true reflection of the strength of national sides. fifa has always been bias towards european teams, belgium is nw world no 1. because of its performance in the european qualifiers, i dont know whether it is an achievement for belgium with all their stars to top a group of cyprus, isreal, wales, bosnia , etc to now deserve no1 in the world because i dont know any other yardstick fifa would have used except the european qualifers. Personally i rate chile more than the belgians because the chileans are perfoming extra ordinarily in a very deadly south american zone, the most competitive in world football. i doubt belgium would make such statement if immersed in that zone.
just finishing checking the rankings, romania is ranked 14 and as erratic as our eagles are, i doubt in a competitive match that this romania can win nigeria placed 59 , wait!!! this must be a joke greece is 37th, a team that failed to register a win throughout the qualifiers....it seems this fifa ranking is a computer oriented lottery, :so dont be surprised if you see nigeria at number 4 in december.
