Ben Carson still thinks Joseph built pyramids to store grain

Ben Carson might need a history lesson.

The 2016 Republican front-runner said in a 1998 commencement speech that he thought the Great Pyramids of Giza were built by Joseph, the figure in the Bible, to store grains — not to bury the Pharaohs, as historians and archaeologists have widely concluded.

“My own personal theory is that Joseph built the pyramids to store grain,” Carson said during the speech at Andrews University, a school that is associated with the Seventh Day Adventist Church. “Now all the archaeologists think that they were made for the Pharaohs’ graves.”

“But, you know, it would have to be something awfully big if you stop and think about it. And I don’t think it’d just disappear over the course of time to store that much grain,” he is seen saying in the video of speech, which was first reported on by Buzzfeed.

“And when you look at the way that the pyramids are made, with many chambers that are hermetically sealed, they’d have to be that way for various reasons,” added Carson, who, according to several recent national polls, is the front-runner in the race for the 2016 GOP nomination. “And various scientists have said, ‘Well, you know there were alien beings that came down and they have special knowledge and that’s how—’ you know, it doesn’t require an alien being when God is with you.”

Archaeologists widely agree the ancient Egyptians built the pyramids as tombs for their Pharaohs.

That, however, hasn’t convinced Carson to back away from the view, which he expressed 17 years ago.

"It is still my belief, yes," Carson told CBS News Thursday when asked about the speech.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump, Carson’s main competitor for the nomination, was quick to take aim at the former doctor for the speech, calling it “strange.”

“I think I’ll have to put that into my repertoire when I talk about Ben,” the outspoken billionaire said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” “That was a strange — that was a strange deal. I learn a lot by watching your show, folks.”

Carson, however, wasn't done.

Later Thursday, Carson, in an interview with Fusion, suggested that transgender people should have their own bathrooms.

“It is not fair for them to make everybody else uncomfortable,” Carson said of transgender people. “It’s one of the things that I don’t particularly like about the LGBT movement. I think everybody has equal rights, but I’m not sure that anybody should have extra rights — extra rights when it comes to redefining everything for everybody else and imposing your view on everybody else.”

The comments aren't the first time the retired pediatric neurosurgeon has ignited controversy with something he said.

Carson has, over the past several years, said he wouldn’t support a Muslim President, compared Obamacare to slavery, claimed Jews in Europe could have avoided the Holocaust if they had been armed, and alleged that “straight” people who enter prison exit “gay.”

How somebody can presumably be so "intelligent" to become a brain surgeon and so dumb at the same time is beyond me.

If Obama was as dumb as Carson he wouldn't have gotten up in the white house, Carson would not even get the republican ticket for being this delude because the most people who actively partake in politics in the US are well informed and educated white people which large number of them are so liberal about religion and consider it a black person thing. Carson just proved that.

Joseph also built the china walls to prevent the emperor's grains and cattle from escaping. It is my belief.
