Man City Ace Toure Blasts African Players: Where's The Ambition?! by Ekeretom(op): 7:02am On Nov 04, 2015
Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has accused African footballers of lacking ambition. Toure says too many are too easily satisfied in their careers. He told France Football: "They sometimes become successful too quickly. They are in their world, they believe they've arrived, the most beautiful, the strongest. Unfortunately, many will see this job only the good side: easy money, girls, going out, the beautiful cars, beautiful clothes. They give up too quickly on the idea to go for the best. They do not always know how to suffer. Many are content with a little. "They send money home and are secure for the coming years. Why hurt? "Although he sometimes passes for someone as a little arrogant or pretentious, Samuel Eto'o , had this hunger to show up and reach higher."

Mods, please front page so that our football stars can be motivated.

Very true, and it's really shameful. I wonder if they don't hear about the CR7s and Messis of this world. How they put in extra efforts and improve their game season to season. But then, I think this players get easily satisfied because of the huge gulf in class between European and African nations. Suddenly becoming a multi millionaire boggles their minds and provides a satisfaction that most of them may never find the motivation to surpass...that's why Mikel, having spent ages in Chelsea, has not had the ambition to move elsewhere or improve his game (he doesn't take set pieces, he doesn't shoot, he doesn't assist goals, and ultimately doesn't score). Smh.

Yaya Toure no b lie u tok. African Players refuse to improve their game and it makes them not dispensable, thus it's easy to bench and offload them to weaker teams

Helping? As in how?.. He is addressing one of the issues that affects the growth of our young talents.. Example is look at the present crop of our under 17.. Where would they be after the world cup. Probably, after signing a peanut contract with an overseas club, they will be contented with that, and won't even think of improving their games. That's what happens to Chrisantus, Akinsola, etc. The list is endless.

Toure wouldn't have said it more better . I know players will wake up especially Naija players . I am tipping Ighalo and iheanacho to take the lead . But age is not on Ighalos side .

Now Toure got tired of the CAF award he wants something more juicy , unfortunately he's in the Era of C.Ronaldo and Midget Messi.

But when an African player tries to do something out of the ordinary on the pitch, the coach clamps down on him. When an oyinbo player tries something different, they hail him. If an African tries those Messi or Ronaldo dribbles and doesn't score or create a goal with each and every move, he's accused of 'showboating', and gets benched!! But those two are allowed the freedom to make as many mistakes as they like. The reason no 'big club' wanted to sign Jay Jay Okocha was because they knew he would outshine all their ''world class'' oyinbo stars in their teams, and would refuse to give up his skills, and would become world No 1. Mikel always plays to Mourinho's instructions to stay behind on the pitch, because he gets substituted or benched in the next game if he doesn't.

I agree and disagree with you on some point.. What if your dribbles results in a goal? And mind u, no player is above mistake even Messi and Ronaldo.

We Africans never cease to blame other people for our problem...

Nonsense

ROSSIK, stop giving lame excuses. African players tend to lack discipline and more importantly motivation.

We still see football and other sports as money earning only while the europeans see it as fame and glory!

Yaya is saturated with African best player award. and he is yet to see someone better to take it from him.

To be the first all the time, could be tiring at some point. grin

.. The main reason for that is simply the lack of hunger for glory and fame from our African players.
