Oh well then, I still await your rebuttal to the fact that the first Ogiso of Bini was Ogiso Oba godo.
You you become a bini man, let me know. Worry about the igbo subgroups disclaiming their igbo heritage.

Urhobo and Igbo share names like Okparah and Eke,Omeruah etc. May I know what these names mean in Urhobo?
Cc Goodboiy
Okpara is a name of town in Agbon clan of Urhobo. Accordin to our history, our ancestor "Agbon" migrated wit his household frm a village calld Udo in Bini land. Agbon nd his family sojourned nd travelld thru Ika land ("Agbor" which surprisly is a corruptn of d name "Agbon"wink nd Ukwani land. It was durin dese periods of livin in midst of Igboid pipo dat his first son was born, nd was there4 named "Okpara", meanin "first son". Howeva, d Urhobo word for first son is "Owanra" (possibly derived frm d Okpara). If it is Omeru, it means "pretence" in Urhobo. Other words Urhobo shared wit Igbo includ "enu"=up, odibo=servant, oyoma=good, unu=mouth, ovwodo=town (Igbo call it obodo), etc. OP shuld hav said words Urhobo-Isoko share wit Igbo nd Yoruba, because u can't categoricaly claim dat just because Urhobo is minority there4 Urhobo is d one dat borrowd frm them.

First, Oh well, it is a glad thing that you accept you are tribalist. You should probably work on your mindset then.

Secondly, you are a mother of many children I suppose, and you still do not know how to comport yourself as a mature adult mother with responsibility.

Finally, I do not understand the whole talk about my being a mod. I posted something many Binis believe themselves and you and your cohorts accused me of being an ignorant moderator for saying something many Binis/Edos believe themselves. Then I provided proof and you are still talking about moderating instead of providing rebuttal to the fact that the first Ogiso of Bini was Ogiso Oba godo. I am waiting patiently for your rebuttal.
the problem is that as mod, you should have refrain from making assertion that could lead to tribal bashing! Your duty is to be neutral and unbias in moderating discussion among forum members.
Stay in background, observing the going on, with sole aim of sustaining the forum objectives. You woefully failed in those area by being bigotry! cool

He seems very well knowledgeable in his own history so it is only common sense that he is invited to speak on a matter that he knows too well.

In the same way I can scoff at you at being an authority over the royal house of Ife when your village is not the least closest to Ife.
gringringrin knowledgeable? An Esan man calls Oranmiyan and Eweka a myth when no Bini man will ever say such and this loser is calling such a person knowledgeable ...

I do not know about that but to me he sounds pretty much knowledgeable in the Bini history.

Or maybe you should try to fault Okorho-Prince Ena Eweka, who is even more knowledgeable in Bini history.

OP, I'm not so happy wit dis ur post. Why do u hav to treat Urhobo dis way nd surprisly, u ar even an Urhobo? How did u know dat it was Urhobo language dat borrowd those words frm Igbo nd Yoruba languages, nd not d other way round? Is it because Urhobo is a minority language nd d other two ar majority languages? So u mean because Urhobo is a minor language there4 Igbo nd Yoruba languages can't loan/borrow words from it? Dat is a lie. Languages dat ar neighbors can borrow words frm one anoda irrespectiv of size. While I'm not disputin d fact dat Urhobo language share these words in common d them, it is also possible dat those words u listd were borrowd frm Urhobo language by Igbo nd Yoruba languages. Moreova, d name "Jesu" u mentiond did not in anyway originatd frm Yoruba. Rather, "Jesu" is d Portuguese name for Jesus. And if u culd rememba, d Portuguese were d first Europeans we interactd wit via trades, nd many of dia words were adoptd by our ancestors, e.g. oro (gold), sabato (sandals), Escravos, Forcados, etc.
Bros I have been reading quietly for long without commenting but it seems you have given small reason to comment.

There's no point denigrating or trying to create any form of disrespect for Urhobo tribe, but you have just made it obvious how personally insecure you are. For one I respect the fact no language is absolute and all languages lend from one another, but moving further to find the entomology of certain words in Urhobo you discover that these words are actually borrowed into the Urhobo language, the fact does not in any way undermines the uniqueness of Urhobo language and her respect which you have ignorantly made apparent. If you have made good research you won't be sounding the way you do because you will remain as true as objectives as possible.

There's also no point trying to downplay the words in other tribe because you felt been ridiculed which is not....contribute to the topic, bring out facts, improve your argument derived base on objectivity. And you'd be applaud simple. No hard feeling pls.

@Uncjay, why all these insults nd aggressiv words! Did u even undastand my post, u who claim to knw so much? I was only pointin out to OP dat he shuldn't b hasty in his conclusion dat all of those words were borrowd by Urhobo frm Yoruba nd Igbo languages just because Urhobo is a minority language. Dat there is also possibility dat som of those words ar aborigine to d Urhobo language, nd were rather even borrowd frm us by Yoruba nd Igbo languages. For ur informatn, I hav good sense of history nd I knw wat I just pointed out for correctn.
