I think you need to be educated that being the GMD of NNPC restrict it workings to NNPC as one of the agencies in petroleum ministry while being a minister gives him an unfettered access to other agencies such as PPMC,DPR,PPRA e.t.c; so by deduction is it demotion or promotion? Answer it.

What do you mean by demotion! He will be the supervising the parastatals under the ministry, including the NIPCO, etc. Forget Buhari's nominal position as the Petroleum minister. Where will he have the time and chance to be supervising the oil industry. All the works would be carried out by Mr. Kachukwu. Demotion ke? Just like you are saying the customs boss becoming the minister of state, finance is demotion. Maybe you are looking at it on the angle of money that would be available to them to 'eat'

GMD of NNPC reports directly to the Minister of petroleum, which happens to also be the president (Buhari). I have no doubt that the new GMD to be appointed by Buhari will be an hausa man. In that case the minister of state for petroleum will be sidelined as he is a junior minister or assistant to the main minister. And buhari been the minister of petroleum might choose not to delegate duties to the state minister and deal directly with GMD.

This is exactly my understanding of the matter.

Buhari might have stylishly sidelined Kachiukwu.

It isnt a demotion ok, he is still d substantive minister of petroleum ok. Buhari cant attend opec meetings ok he ll be attending it ok. Buhari is just a supervision ok.

he is the minister of petroleum, PMB only include the state so as to have direct access to the ministry. Kachikwu will perform better as a minister.
