Kemi Adeosun who was appointed as finance minister by Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari failed to diversify in the subnational state of Ogun in her earlier stint as finance commissioner there.

Adeosun was most recently finance commissioner of Ogun state in southwestern Nigeria for the past four years, succeeding Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, a former World Bank managing director.

Adeosun faces an oil-dependent country that is suffering from a fall in crude prices in the past year, an economy growing at its slowest pace this decade, and increasing unease among business-people and investors that currency restrictions imposed by the central bank are choking activity.

However her State Ogun is the 3rd to last among Nigerian states when measuring their capacity to meet monthly recurrent expenditure commitments, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), see chart below.

so you expect us to use 6months which is even around the electioneering period to judge her?

Your document clearly stated Jan- July 2015. now I wish you know how much capital project the state is able to execute during her tenure as finance commissioner.

You are confusing and your topic is misleading.
Any economic plan in a state must be approved by the governor. You don't just wake in the morning and say you want to diverse the economy of your state. Even if it was successful, it won't start yeilding economic or financial dividends immediately. Diversification of economy either at state level or federal level is a long term economic plan. Again, diversification of economy can only boost our national income, expand our revenue and there will be more money to address some infrastructural related issues, truly it can generate employment but it can't address our main problem which is corruption and wastage.

Close to 100 new manufacturing companies, thousands of startups, booming housing market says otherwise.
In a truly federal state, Ogun will be second richest. Second only to lagos. The FG pocket all the taxes.

Adeosun can never fail! The Oduanistanis already have an alibi waiting to defend her imminent failures.

When she fails, they will blame her failure on Iweala! They would tell you that Iweala messed up the economy so much that it would take Adeosun 100 years to fix the economy. grin

You heard it from pazienza first. I will save this thread in my archives, for the "I told you so " days.

The same alibi has been prepared for Fashola and other Odua ministers. cheesy
