imas:dude i do read my bible, am not gullible to any pastors, is not the pastor that wrote the bible, but if any pastor is now using what is being writtien in bible to enrich his own pocket, it is left with him and God..moreover, in my church we dont ask for tithe and offering every sunday, infact if are new there u will not even know if dey do collect tithe...As i have said no pastor can force me to pay any tithe or any offering in the church |

Lilimax:Which command? Christians were never commanded to pay tithe but to help the poor and needy. In Matthew 23:23 Jesus says, "Woe to you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for you tithe mint, dill, and cumin and have neglected the weightier provisions of the law: justice, mercy and faithfulness. But these are the things you should have done without neglecting the others." These are things you need and not tithe. |

Reyginus:Why don't you open a thread about tithing and put it up in the religion section, since you have so much to say about it, you are derailing this one. |

JuanDeDios:Keep telling yourself that to make you feel better, but there is not one good reason to borrow money. It's all about your mentality and the foundation you set for yourself from the onset. If a person is thrifty and frugal, you will not have problems in the future. If American's who invented the art of borrowing can finally see the light and are slowly creeping away from the debt cycle, then others should not have any excuse. The rule of thumb is at a minimum, one should have 6 months salary saved up for emergencies which must never be touched until one has an emergency, 20 percent for investment/retirement and another 20 percent on savings. People are generally impatient and want to live like ballers from day one. Those who go borrowing, go sorrowing at the end of the day. Live within your means. |

2. ........ you need to develop a culture of saving, yes! you need to save. No matter how little, you can make up your mind to save between 10 and 20 percent of your earnings. In the event that you lose your job, or an emergency comes up, you will have something to fall back on. 4. Pay your Tithe and Give cheerfully. The saying "Givers Never Lack" is one of the most accurate sayings ever. Try it and you will be surprised, it works like magic! ![]() 5. Dedicate a Fraction of your stipends to self development. Your chances of getting a better paying job will definitely increase if you have more skills, certifications, etc. 7. Feel free to add up... [/quote]If you can fulfill these three ways above, others do not matter. thats my secret of increase. |

Datevilme:To be able to do that, learn who around you knows you in the right sense and, you might be term 'social blunder', 'anti-social' and the likes, abeg shut them out just like the OP suggested. 5. Dedicate a Fraction of your stipends to self development. Your chances of getting a better paying job will definitely increase if you have more skills, certification.More certifications are an egde someday. And during the course of getting these certs, make 'targetted friends' that will connect you someday. 6. Check your Relationships!! Guys, is your girlfriend milking you dry? Girls, is your boyfriend feeding of you continously? The hard truth is that if you are going to move ahead, you need to cut off those that are constantly pulling you back. If they truly cared about you, they wont keep demanding, knowing fully well you don't earn that much.Adrian Lester said 'Always look after number 1'. True, we have to keep people when we can and let go when the relationship cant hold any longer, but if both can stay the 'thick and thin' what the hell. 7. Feel free to add up...Diversify your income channels and stay ahead in happenings. |

JuanDeDios:Seminars? ok. My organization spends a lot of money on financial counseling. In the beginning i never saw a need to use their services which was free until one of our employees committed suicide because debt had ruined his life. This was a guy who was always smiling and jovial, but little did we know that he was dying inside. He had over 100k in credit card debt and a broken marriage. Anyway, during the one on one consultation with the financial counselor, he showed me how he contributed 500 dollars a month into a ROTH, with an annual return or 9 percent for 20 years, withdrawable after 30 years. He was a millionaire at age 50. How was he able to do that? By living within his means, having a budget and not borrowing for whatever reason. People with a weak constitution will always wanna justify reasons for their weakness. The information is out there. Go get it. Ten years into following his guidance and financial plan i have no regrets. I would advise you to change your mentality. Especially when you are young because the older you get, the higher the amount you have to contribute monthly to achieve the same results. |

Bollinger:I understand you better now - it's actually what I suspected. I will tell you something; I don't know if you will get it but I will say it. "Never ever borrow money" is a sound advice, one I will dish out to a middle class salary earner like you. But there are other categories of people out there and there are a whole lot of permutations to life. Sometimes borrowing is inevitable. Sometimes it's even the smart thing to do. But how would you know all that? So you think there is a formula to life and will have everyone in a box. You will even accuse anyone of a seemingly contrary view of having a weak constitution. You may yet learn that different things do work. That something else, mentioned in op, and not necessarily borrowing, was what did in your colleague. You may learn. |
