Breaking News : Obi Left N9 Billion Not 75billion as Speculated -ANSG

…. Obiano inherited a total contract sum for all projects of N185.1Billion Obiano Anambra state government today, 14th November 2015, addressed the contentious issue of whether the immediate past administration of Mr. Peter Obi left N75 Billion in the coffers of the state government while leaving office 19 months ago saying that he left N9 Billion liquid cash and not the N75 Billion as been speculated. The former governor had claimed while leaving office after two terms that he kept N75Billion in government coffers for his successor, Chief Willie Obiano. The claim became controversial when some officials of the present administration led by Obiano tried to dispute it late last year in hushed voices.

At a media briefing inside the conference room of the government house in Awka, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu flanked by other members of the State Executive Council (SEC) said that the Obi administration as at March 2014 upon handover had approximately a cash balance of N9.0 Billion left in the coffers, while local and foreign investments, refunds and bank balances stood at N75.0 Billion. He said that there were equity investments made by the previous administration captured in its handover note which have potential to earn money but are not tradable, while there are yet other assets that are tradable and could be converted to cash but have not. He also said that there were expenses made on counterpart funding which the previous administration made in other to get money from donor agencies and that these monies didn’t yield anything. Moreover, he said that the Obiano administration was yet to assess the $155m foreign currency investment the state made in Eurobonds and other foreign denominated securities held with Access Bank, Fidelity Bank and Diamond Bank and that given the current decline in Nigeria capital markets, this portfolio of Eurobonds had a market value of approximately $132m (26.4B) reflective of prices dated September 21, 2015. “If Anambra State Government (ANSG) were to liquidate the portfolio, the state would incur a US $ loss of US $32m (14.8%) a Naira loss of N100M, respectively”, he said. The Obiano administration he said had appointed a reputable investment banking firm named Afrinvest West Africa Limited to optimally manage the investment portfolio. Prof. Chukwulobelu said the Obiano administration inherited a total contract sum for all projects totaling N185.1Billion from Peter Obi’s administration, paid #35.1 Billion on these inherited projects between March 2014 and August 2015, while the sum of N11.7Billion had been paid for projects initiated by him directly. He refuted insinuations that it was from the #75Billion left by Obi for his successor that he uses to pay salaries of workers without applying for bailout from Federal government. He said that the feat was rather fallout of prudent management of the state government’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) which rose from #500M from his assumption of office to #1.5Billion monthly as well as resources from the federation account.

I wonder why it took him this long to address this matter. By the way, didn't Peter Obi made it clear the 75 billion wasn't in liquid cash.

BABANGBALI:
Dear Biafrans I support your struggle 100% but my problem is your
approach. I would want to suggest the following procedures and I can
assure you they will work out successfully. If you can unite and follow
the following steps then I can tell, welcome to the Republic of Biafra in
advance.
Quote
STEP 1: Withdraw all your services from Nigeria as you are the
backbone of the country.
STEP 2: Withdraw your kins men who are public office holders e.g. Ike
Ekweremadu, deputy senate president, Peter Obi the D.G of S.E.C
STEP 3: Reject all the ministerial nomination from the so called
Nigeria.
STEP 4: Endeavour to reject Federal Allocation. You are very
industrious people, you will be better off without it.
STEP 5: Stop all forms of importation through the Nigerian sea port so
that Nigeria will crumble without your Tax.
STEP 6: Recall all your sons and daughters from all parts of Nigeria
to relocate home until this fight is over then Nigeria can beg them to
come back as expatriate.
STEP 7: Lock up all your shops in Idumota, Alaba international, Kano
main market and every other market even in remote villages across
the country.
STEP 8: Go beyond closing of the Niger bridge, stop all Nigerians
from buying or selling in Onitsha Main market or Ariaria market in
Aba.
STEP 9: Make sure you make your Visa very hard for Nigerians.
STEP 10: This fight can be achieved without Violence just like south
Sudan.
Finally, make sure you don’t fight it with weapons. Igbo kwenu!!! hey!.
What do you think of these suggestions; good for the cause of Biafra or
not?

I like Peter Obi's approach to financial management. He fought a lot of battles for refusing to carry more loads than Anambra's financial status.

It not necessarily about carrying loads beyond the government's strength because he himself said there is nothing wrong with borrowing, rather it's about addressing the primary challenges. You don't jump in and start borrowing....You have to arrange your government and declare your goals and know where to start and it's necessary to borrow.

At least he left something...come to the west, south south, abia, imo, what you will see is high debt profile left by their predecessors and the high debt profile they will leave in government coffers when they leave office...

Anambra the only south eastern state that can stand on its own... they have been lucky to have progressives as governors

Again I have been vindicated. Peter obi is a thief. He must provide the balance of the money wherever he claimed he left. I just blame obiano for taking this long to denounce this peter obi's claim allowing him to take credit for his stellar performance.

Why are you so sstupid?
The misunderstanding here is that the funds aren't in liquid cash, period.
ANSG stated the only cash in liquid was 9billion. This report wasn't denying anything, rather to clarify the situation. This is not so hard to understand.

Stop complicating a simple matter. The governor has stated there are funds but not available to spend. Obi on a channels tv interview stated the funds were mostly invested in eurobonds.

To make it easier for you,the ofeke was staunchly against Obiano's candidacy and was until the animosity between Obi and Obiano break out and he suddenly became Obiano's biggest fan.
