glassy2606: His tummy is so small and most babies dont digest formula so well as newborns (constipation is common), so maybe a drop of water might do the trick. My mum gave Baby E some water as a newborn (though doctors don't recommend it). But please only a drop, infact use one of those medicine syringes and measure just a drop, in the morning after his bath. Some people say put a cottonbut with Vaseline up the baby's butt, I did this but was too scared to go in and it didn't work for me. Maybe others can help you. 2 Likes |

Pls take your baby to the hospital and run d jaundice test to know the level, the hospital you delivered should have done this test before you left, if you dont see improvement pls take baby to the hospital for treatment. Had this with my two babies and I usually spend 10days in d hospital after been discharged to treat them, the last one even did exchange blood transfusion cos his test result was over 18.. You need to know if its increasing or reducing. world: |

glassy2606: My paed in the US said the same thing and went a step further to say sometimes really diluted prune juice works faster than water (I tried it first on myself though and it was a "bit too efficient". Formula and breast milk formulation are so very different that formula isn't really properly digested by babies (so it causes constipation) and breastmilk is so well digested, baby can go for upto a week without pooing (which then scares ft parents). So hang in there, maybe it's time to change the formula or maybe you're adding too much powder and it's not mixing well (add powder to water and not the other way round). Are you breastfeeding at all? Any little breast milk is better than nothingn |

glassy2606: If you feel the constipation is bad and water isn't doing the trick, a few teaspoons of fresh orange juice would work too. |
