Plz I need an advice on what I need to watch out for before this mechanics kill me wt buying and buying(Try and error theories).

My 99 Camry works well, transmission changes smoothly but immediately I encounter traffic on my way. As I match the brake gently I discover that the RPM which is always on 1 or below tends to move to 0(zero) which results to the engine gerking like it wanted to stop but rather it would pick up again and work smooth. At times in d traffic it may happen once and it wouldn't happen again inside same slow movement.

I have checked the engine seats all are fine and intact.

Please advice!

It definitely Idle control solenoid issue .
the responsibility of this device is to maintain the engine default idle speed (650-750) regardless of the load on the engine when the car is at idle or slow running (Kazeem language).
so u will need to service your idle control solenoid and throttle position body for dirts.

When cleaning the IAC, tell the kazeem or yourself not to twist or pull the pintle.

Just spray a throttle body cleaner to wash it off.

Lol. Kazeems love to do that. I've seen that in at least 3 cars.

When i called my Mechanic this morning, he has already started listing the followings for changed and i recently changed them without issues, I just decided to change as part of normal servicing on the 28th of October, Now he is listing it again.
He said am changing:-
1. Fuel Pump
2. Fuel filter
3. All my 4 plugs, and all this stuffs are newly bought by the same Kazeem.

I will advice you to run for your dear life from that kazeem before he inflict your car with more issue as what he is interested is to dig more holes in your pocket ,though i no blame kazeem sha , e self go do xmas too o

No diagnostic tool ooo. I called him this morning and he said those stuffs we changed during my last service where bad!

TPS is Throttle Position Sensor
IAC is Idle Air Control Valve

Ask the kazeem how he got to the conclusion that the parts he listed were bad.

If you used fake as replacement, he could be right. But he need to prove.

New fuel pump and spark plugs cannot simultaneously 'spoil' except some withches in the nearby village use your car at night for shuttle.

He should be able to show that by putting a new fuel pump or new spark plugs, the problems will disappear.

Good day guys, I think I av similar problem with my car. golf 3, 1.8ltr. sometimes it drives smoothly while sometimes it acts as if there is no fuel supply to d carburetor. the car cease to move at dat point even when I throttle hard, then it picks again and drives fine. I av change d fuel pump, fuel filter. I even bot another carburetor (electric ) d fault is still there I av to return d carburetor.

I think I need to run a scan on my car, as myself and my mechanic Av cleaned and changed the Idle air control valve sensor. I clean the Unit myself with TINA and petrol.

We cleaned the Air flowmeters too.

Yet the symptoms reduces but its still there.

When my mechanic drives the car I don't observe the Jerk in traffic reason been that he is rough wt driving so he smash the brake once and there wouldn't be any vibration or Jerk but if I smash the brake gently it tends to Ram down from 1 RPM to zero but later picks up without actually stoping.

2 things he proposed.

1. He said my car is OK that innitially the engine system works with the RPM above 1 which is true and I don't observe the Jerk them but it really consume fuel. So wen we reduce the slow run to exactly 1 RPM 2 days later the issue begin. He propose to increase the slow running and I reject immediately.

2. He said we should replace the fuel filter, pump, change the Idle control valve sensor.

I don't wanna beleieve increasing the slow running wil rectify the issue.

Stop wasting your time. Just go buy another throttle body. Your kazeem has led you in the wrong direction. If you knew what a thinner is, you wouldn't listen to his ill statement. Another op jumping from the frying pan to fire

Go to another mechanic, and tell him to take you to where they sell tokunbo CAMRY engines, and he should bargain the price of Throttle body aka injector mouth with the engine seller, the mechanic should remove your own throttle body aka injector mouth and install the newly bought throttle body and test it right there. If the symptom ceases, you're good to go, of it doesn't, keep changing till you get the working type. He should open the Idle Air Control valve for any foam, cloth or polyethene blockage, if he finds any blockage, he shouldn't buy it.
