The power rotation is due north now. When they finish and power come south it is ibo turn . ibo can be anything delta rivers included. All na IBO. That or you inviting chaos.

All this long theory you wrote here na for the baboons.

As for nairaland going tribal .Don't take them seriously . It is anonymous so people try to be provocative

Politics is a numbers game, Ibos (core Ibo) don't have the numbers as a block and don't have the trust of the other blocks. I'm very much against tribal politics but I'm just telling you as I gauge the sentiment in our country. Core Ibo, by that I mean the Anambra etc axis cannot become president of this country anytime soon. If you consider Cross river, Akwa Ibom, Rivers etc to be Ibo then that's very possible as other Nigerians see them as Efik, Ijaw etc. Anambra axis has a higher chance of becoming governor of Lagos than becoming president of Nigeria.

Stop playing ethic politics, Ibos are just shooting themselves in the foot if they are really that keen on becoming president. Personally I don't know what difference it makes where the president comes from if govt does it's job likes it's supposed to. Obasanjp was president, we didn't feel his effect in the SW. Jonathan was president, what was the benefit to the common Ibo man. The IBos that benefited are not the ones on Nairaland!! There is nothing in Law that says power must rotate from north to south, those are internal party guidelines. All that is needed if one party fields a core IBO candidate is for the other party to field North/SW, North SS alliance and it's game over.

personally, I would like to see an Ibo president, just so we can move beyond this tribal politics. I just don't think it can happen anytime soon.

SS is not a tribe. Delta State filled with Igbos. Plenty of Ibos in SS from Rivers to Cross rivers too. Look at Pro Biafra protests (which I do not really support for now but I know what they are complaining off) across Igbo land and you understand. There is no difference between OBI of ASABA and OBI of Onitsha. Our people exist on both sides of the small river. Go there and see if you find EMeka or Abdulrahman Mohammed.

You can say Yoruba does not really like Ibo ( bc Igbos full lagos in their millions) and does not wish them well so will not vote for IGBos no matter what but that one na una problem. You also assume that SW is very popular outside of SW. You think after Yoruba stab Jonathan in the back that they Southern nationalities have forgotten who stood with them?

Or that North ( which is another vague grouping bc there is NC, NE too) will always side with SW. If northern candidate is not at the top no one knows how they will choose to vote hence the candidates must work hard to earn their vote. I get the sense that you relying too much on these bigotted anonymous nairaland tribal posts to pass judgement.

I agree with you though that If Government does its job - tribal sentiments go die down and dissapear. But problem is our governemnt does not provide anything. No roads, no light. No security. What a shame. Hopefully we have responsive govt and then it wont matter what part of naija president comes from.

I wonder how Fashola will defeat a northern candidate without help from the SS/SE

Vote for him or vote for a Northerner. The choice is yours.

First IBO IS IBO. Only in your wicked heart does 'core Ibo' exist. Ibo man in Aba is the same as Ibo man in Port Harcourt.
Second - Notice you talk of alliances- so na only Ibo wey no fit get allaince in your head?
Third - If you like keep wishing Ibo bad luck - you are only hurting Yorubas too. Yoruba has had their turn in OBJ. So any time Presidency comes South we know who's turn it is.

Not that I want to spoil the tribal warfare that you all are so clearly enjoying in here, but I must say that the way you guys think strikes me as quite odd. Do you mean to say that what matters in a presidential candidate isn't the person's qualifications, track record and beliefs, but only whether "na my person"? That you'd rather be ruled badly by someone from your own tribe than be governed well by someone with a different ethnic background? What a ridiculous way of seeing the world!

I have no opinion to share on whether Fashola should or can be president - as someone else has already said, it's up to the man himself to deliver as a minister if he wants to seriously entertain such ambitions. What I do find disturbing is the very idea that who should be president should be determined primarily by which region's "turn" it is to rule, rather than the political platforms and achievements of the candidates. With such thinking commonplace, it's no wonder Nigeria's governance has been such a disaster since independence.

that you dont like what you read doesn't mean it's not true. I'm just stating my observation. I loathe reducing myself to tribal discussions and I genuinely couldn't care less which tribe becomes president, history has shown we are all equally incompetent. I'm just telling you some harsh realities when you take a gauge of the sentiment in Nigeria today, just take the pulse of Nairaland. The more the Ibos play the Biafra card, the more other sections feel uncomfortable. It doesnt matter how you define an ibo man, what matters is how the other sections of Nigeria (the people whose votes an Ibo candidate needs) define who is an Ibo man and to most people Portharcourt is not Ibo, or at least not the section of Ibo"they worry about.. Again I define core Ibo as "anambra axis" and I assert that Nigeria will not vote in a president from the immediate anambra axis in the next 20 years! Just as you people are still hung up on the civil war, the north hasn't forgotten either and now Ibos are alienating yorubas too. it makes no difference to my life (or yours to be frank) which tribe is president but if you are so hung up on it and the presidency means that much to you, then Ibos need to start acting smart. Like I stated, I would like to see an Ibo president just so we can get over this and move on but all this biafra stuff is not helping your cause.. you are just aloenating the votes you need. You can abuse me all you like, it doesnt change the facts, you can get emotional or you face the realities and act smart. If yorubas say they want to secede, are you going to vote for a yoruba man who doesn't beleive in the Nigeria project? What the Biafra movement and Kanu have done is actually a disservice to the Ibos, because he has made a name for himself but taken the Ibo cause back 40years!!! If we go back to history you will know this has parallels!!

Again I say learn lesson from Black America, they played the victim/oppressed "us v them" card for so long and where did it get them? The 1st generation son of a Kenyan imigrant walked in to the white house before they who have inhabited the country for centuries!! Similarly, you keep playing the Civil war Biafra card and a south south minority strolled in to Aso rock quietly!! I'm not saying slavery or the civil war didn't happen or should be belittled or diminished but understand that hanging on to it is holding Ibos back politically if you really want the presidency. Though like I said I don't know what you think having an Ibo man as president will do for the common Ibo man except pyschologicaly. Like I said OBJ was president and nothing came the way of the SW, it was under Jonathan (a SS president with a Northern vice) that the most important federal impact on Yoruba land (lagos Ibadan express) was awarded!!!

Furthermore, since you say Ibo is Ibo, have we not just come out of an Ibo presidency? what benefit did it bring to your people after 7 years of the highest Oil revenues in History? You are shouting marginalization, no be una just commot power? We need to get out of this poverty of the mind that is killing us, you vote for your brethren not on competence they steal the money and do nothing for you, yet next election you shout vote for my bethren!! It's because we are collectively STOOPID as an electorate that we are treated like the idiots we are by the people we vote in!! Because they know that come next election we will vote on religious/ethnic lines and not on competence or scorecard.
