Scamming according to Nairaland's lexicon is swindling by means of fraud, a scheme used to attempt to obtain money or intimacy from a person

Overtime, we have read and got entertained by fellow users who have tried to play a smart one on fellow users. Here's a list (not comprehensive though) of the major ones that have given us sense and entertainment.


1. The one between[b] Ogakpatakpata[/b] and Dehonourable could be said to be the most prominent and major because even Nairaland crashed during the period. The crash could have been a coincidence but many would swear one of the parties crashed our servers and deleted our posts too. (Ogakpatakpata was the scammer) it had to do with Dubai and working in Dubai. The thread funny enough disappeared from the Internet following the tsunami.

2. Then we had the Platinumk Vs Theseeker/ThePelican. Bwoi! That was a blockbuster (Theseeker was the scammer) it was a romance, sex scam. Theseeker manipulated the whole thing. He was judged by the nairaland courts and found guilty and was banished. Even before he could defend himself, he already got expelled. Lol.

3. Then the same Platinumk Vs Inspiredm This particular one was even featured in other top sites. (Is scamming our culture) It attracted interpol Platinumk was the scammer This one almost got the site owner in trouble. A lot happened offline and till today the scammer, Anyanwu never surfaced again on nairaland.

4. Then Inspiredm Vs Revlution Inspiredm was the scammer) This one was so annoying to me personally. We had had small small threads prior to this, all questioning the integrity and alleging to the scamming tendencies found in inspiredm but he was a moderator and had friends in high places who always gave him a squeaky clean slate after every fall. Till he scammed Revlution and got ousted in shame.

5. Andresia and Triple A (Triple A was the scammer)

6. Shopclue Vs Aieromon This particular event gave birth to several other rmini mini entertainment. Too many married men were indicted. Shopclue was the scammer. She had a dossier for all her activities which cut across many strata and people. She was always ready to start a thread on dirt with anyone mostly male and married who said anything as much as "hi" to her on that thread. It was that entertaining.

7. Jennilov Vs Peachafrique this one was so foolish as to involve his husband. Or rather, her husband who isn't a nairalander was her team-mate and partner in the art of scamming. Shameless couple. Jennilov was the scammer. She threw deadly bombs via her fingers that if one wasn't determined, the bombs from her fingers alone was enough to discourage from reading. She even claimed to be a Full or is it Whole graduate

Nemesis will catch up with her soon. She quickly deactivated when she couldn't save face anymore.

This is one unusual kind of scam because in this particular case, both of them scammed each other. While one went in for love, the other already knew what was needed.

No, he was banned as soon as Platinumk blew the whistle. It wasn't until MissyB started a thread that he registered his "ThePelican" I'd to confirm his fraud.

Too much drama then. That thread even tried to open up so many yanches like Ujujoan's and Whitelexi, Plus 190 feeling like a don in the mix.

10. 190 Vs Omolola1 190 was the scammer. There's was a romance gone bad. Had to do with being a talkative and low self esteem on the part of the scammer and a trusting naive victim.
