Nigerian Economy Expanding Faster Under President Muhammadu Buhari - Bloomberg by Orikinla(op): 4:36pm On Nov 23, 2015
I don't know how God is doing it, but there is an economic miracle going on at the moment since the start of the laster quarter of 2015. Bloomberg's latest report shows that Nigerian economy is expanding faster under President Muhammadu Buhari. I cannot applaud his economic policy at the moment, but I can applaud his pragmatic actions against corrupt practices in both the public and private sectors. Cases of corruption have drastically reduced and restored the confidence of foreign investors in the Nigerian economy. With the appointment of his ministers, I expect President Buhari's cabinet to perform above board and succeed in advancing the national development of Nigeria. I thank God for the good news in spite of my disappointment in President Buhari's shortcomings in his handling of the critical national security of the country which still remains the Achilles' heel of Nigeria. Nigeria’s economy, the largest in Africa, expanded at a slightly faster pace in the third quarter as oil production increased. Gross domestic product rose 2.8 percent from a year ago, compared with 2.4 percent in the second quarter and 6.2 percent in the same period of 2014, the National Bureau of Statistics said in an e-mailed report on Tuesday. Oil output jumped to 2.17 million barrels a day from 2.05 million barrels. Nigeria, Africa’s biggest oil producer, is struggling to cope with an almost 60 percent plunge in crude prices since June last year. Economic growth is set to slow to 3.9 percent this year from 6.3 percent in 2014, according to the median estimate of 10 economists surveyed by Bloomberg. The oil industry rose 1.1 percent in the three months to the end of September, after contracting 6.8 percent in the previous quarter, the statistics agency said. The non- oil industry, which makes up 90 percent of GDP, increased 3.1 percent in the third quarter, down from 7.5 percent a year earlier. Manufacturing fell 1.8 percent, the third consecutive quarterly contraction.

And so what sir?

GDP growth is always a good thing, especially in the face of economic challenges such as low oil prices and a reduction in exports

Can you connect your GDP ,national income, debt, and inflation.

Then you will see the real issues.
NBS posted the report that is been relayed by the op! But is cutting out this

"However, this was 4.45 per cent lower than the corresponding quarter in 2014 and marginally lower than Q2 2015 estimates."

If the economy is not expanding, I don't how more jobs are currently being created. More jobs than in 2014. An economy that creates more jobs is an expanding economy. Personally I created some jobs last month that I could not do last year. And next year, I am already working on investing US$2.5m on the education of millions of underprivileged girls out of school. Afrinolly just launched the biggest marketplace for Nollywood and African movies and Access Bank is investing N1 billion to finance Nollywood movies. These are facts from my own sector of the economy.
