I am a victim of self ignorance, and lack of patience because of my busy schedules. I am very experienced and knowledgeable when it comes to cars.
Earn reasonably well so money not a problem, but needed another car for my wife, since the 2009 Lexus RX350 can not be used daily

I asked my No 3 mechanic to go check a 2003 rav4 this guy was advertising on Nairaland. My No 3 mechanic called that the car was okay, and since i wanted this urgently I decided to pay.
Note two of my most experienced of my mechanic traveled , so i decided to ask the No3 to go check.
Infact right now i am in the process of terminating the relationship with him , only that he is elderly and has helped many times.

To cut the long story short.
The first time I saw the named car, I knew there were issues and I looked at the NO 3 mechanic to the face " like are you for real".
Terrible looking with the 18 inch rims, on a rav 4?? That alone put me off.

At your request ,I will disclose phone numbers of panel beaters, AC technicians, and auto mechanics that have worked on the car for you to inquire the money spent

Body work and painting - 55,000 Not 1st body as advertised.

1. Catalytic converter - 35,000
2. Oxygen sensors - 30,000 (6* 5000)
3. AC evaporator - 25,000
4. AC Condenser - 20,000
5. AC Freon - 3,500
6. Door lock actuator -8,000
7. Tokumbo rim(215/70r/16 -26,000 how can someone put 18inch moster rim on a rav4 that is made for 16inc)
8. New tires -26,000 (1st grade tokumbo tires)
9. ECM AKA Brain box -35,000
10.Stabilizer linkage Front 6,000
11. 8,500 (The long black rod that connect the two front tires to the swayber or linkage - Missing)
12. 40,000 (Under tire black covers (4 sides damaged by big tires , mud cover, front engine covers,


Spent so far is N318,000.

Yesterday, the exhaust was opened up and we found the old catalytic converter particles clogged the exhaust system , therefore making the car lose power on acceleration
2ndly the car has a transmission issues . You will find a lot of reports online on this car. It jerks on reverse, it slips in gear selection.

Now we don't know how much more I will spend.

Lesson Learnt

1. Go check yourselves with an experienced mechanic. My most reliable traveled, so would have waited
2. I though i would save money, but ended up with Lemon
