Church wedding was copied from the white

I'll repeat what I said in fewer words. There are many daily practices of christians that do not have their origin in the bible. Most have blatantly pagan religious origins.

well i dont know what can be described as pagan, maybe u should elaborate on that?

3. Lord don't despise sinners : Jesus throughout his life on earth is always seen amongst sinners. Remember the parable of the lost coin and the parable of the lost sheep. He said he came because of them. He will never turn them back. Okay, but the church will refuse to join the to-be couple together because they have sinned (she has indulge in pre marital sex). When you turn them down from the church, where do you expect them to go? A lot has since been discouraged from the church because of this.

4. Why do marriages still crash even after the wedding took place in the church? Why do even pastors wedding crash? Getting the "pastor's blessings" do not in any way guarantee your success in marriage. You don't necessarily need it.

5. I know some pastor and churches have turn the church wedding to money making venture. If you hear what they collect to make the church wedding happen in their church, una go fear fear. They ask for this and that before the wedding,but then, how much do they pay for salvation?
Conclusion: A traditional marriage is what actually makes you husband and wife. While there's nothing really wrong about with church marriage, it is actually avoidable. You aren't committing any sin by doing only traditional wedding.

Church wedding is like speaking English while laughing at those who can communicate fluently in local languages but have issues cohering in English.

Pagan was originally used to describe non christian religions during the Roman empire. That use is often back dated to also include non Jewish religions. So anything that is not jewish or christian can be described as pagan. Notions like the Logos were pagan concepts first, later brought into christianity.

All you typed is fallacy, unless you come from a tribe that I haven't heard of in Nigeria.
In traditional marriages there isn't anything like pouring libations to .
It is only mandated for the father of the bride to pray and prophesy unto the life of the new couple.
I am Ibo and during such marriages the only name of any spiritual being I hear apart from Jesus is Chukwu abiama which is Jehovah.
And in the bible even after christinity came there was no charge that the traditional marriage is just primary and church wedding will now take place before anything.

On the issue of sex and all that. Is in this dispensation that you will know if the couple had sex without them telling u? Or are u going to assign them watchmen and all that?

And what are u saying? U mean if I traditionally marry my wife it is a sin to have sex with him before white wedding?

In my own opinion. Marriage is a mire spiritual than physical affair. The mistakes we make mist times is that we view marriage as merely a sexual/ child bearing venture. Christianity is alien to d African society. As I christian, I believe we should do what is right. That is the Church wedding where Christ stands as out witness. Traditional wedding belongs to our old way and I do not want to condemn it except for d pouring of libation part which I will not condone. Had light got any business to do with darkness. If u choose ur ancestral gods to witness and be the foundation of your wedding, you can as well leave God out it.

I've checked all the bible quotations you mentioned, none of them has a bearing on the topic the OP opened and logically discussed. The only thing you have succeeded in doing is to insult and attack his opinion and person, holy as you are.

His points are clear, it's anyone's personal choice to do church wedding or not. A woman becomes your wife once she accepts to marry you, takes you to her parents and their kinsmen. Once they accept you and your bride price, FINISH. You can proceed to register the marriage legally in a court or marriage registry. Any other thing elaborate will be considered showmanship by choice or pressure from the society that knows nothing about your financial standing.

In the bible I can't recall any wedding taking place in the synagogue, marriages where done between both families & the bible is replete with several examples.

Even in the New Testament you don't find any wedding taking place in a "church" or assembly of believers

marriage in the bible was between families, one important factor was the fathers consent in giving out his daughter.

so can you cite a bible verse that

1.Shows a priest/pastor joining a couple
2.Shows a wedding taking place in a synagogue or assembly of believers
3.Gives guidelines on how to conduct a Christian wedding

Op, please pardon me, as I give you a little background to 'church wedding' in Nigeria, after which I will answer your question.

First of all, in Nigeria, there are three types of marriages recognised BY LAW. They are: customary, court, and then, Islamic marriage.

Now, what we call 'church wedding' is actually the court marriage properly so called. However, this is in instances where the church issues the marriage certificate of the Federal republic of nigeria to the couple, which is the same certificate those who wed in court/registry are given. Where the church doesn't issue this, it cannot be equated with 'court marriage'. Me thinks we can call this one 'church celebration/blessing' simpli cita.

Just to clarify the above, only churches licensed by the government to conduct marriages are allowed to issue those certificates. . However, if the church is not licenced, it will not be able to so issue. In this case, the 'church wedding' would simply be a gathering to celebrate with the new couple, and then, an opportunity to be blessed by a Minister and the church as a whole. Another instance where this certificate will not be given in church, is where in addition to 'wedding' there, the couple goes to court/registry to wed. In this instance, the court/registry will be doing the Issuing.

Now, flowing from the above:

Que: is it unscriptural for a couple to decide to do the church wedding in a licenced church,and obtain their FRN marriage certificate from same, in accordance to the law of the land?

Answer: NO. Infact, Scriptures abound enjoining Christians to obey the law of the land and 'church wedding' qua 'court marriage' in this instance is the law of the land called Nigeria.

Que: In a situation where the FRN marriage certificate is not issued in the 'Church wedding', would the 'wedding' still be scriptural?

Answer: YES. The bible also enjoins Christians to rejoice with them that rejoice. So, yes, all the gele- tying and suiting up, the excitement that goes with the church wedding is very scriptural, with or without the certificate being obtained there. Moreso, it's an opportunity to be blessed by the church! Ain't nothing wrong with that, is there?

Lastly, I would just like to remind christians that the basis of Christianity isn't these things that go to no issue, cos every time I see threads like this, I feel bad that the we are leaving issues like our standing with God, to argue about mundane things. Let's focus on what is important.

It is just an act of selfishness, where the pastor will proscribe to them that the marriage must be once, no separation even for better or worse the marriage must remain and that's why the men remain in bondage even if the woman go fetish or goes to spiritualist to spiritually harm the armorless husband, in fact church has been a sort of security for the selfish ladies that think it could deprive their men from fornication, which for ages now it is not working, l have many church married friends who still fornicate because their wives could not meet up with their demand, or the wives became troublesome after marriage or disrespectful to him or parents or so many other marriage vices, you see the vow becomes null and void.
