Dear Biafran, What Is Your Age. by RichEstate(m): 3:21pm On Dec 10, 2015
i am just thirty-one years of age, which shows that i had never been conceived at all during the civil war, but as a reader, i read different accounts of the war.
The one that painted the picture with less bias was the great Chinua Achebe's THERE WAS A COUNTRY.
The book made me feel i was part of the real war but was it so? far from it.
Well, you may reason that it is act and art of cowardice to cow in biafra agitation because we don't want to die for what we believe so strongly yet i wish the young bloods are asked of their age before making agitation for something that nearly wiped off the igbos. Even the brave Sir Ojukwu had to throw in towel.
i wonder this time who could be stronger to continue the struggle(definitely not Kanu).
As a young kid, i went for holiday with my elder brother in accient town of ife. My dad had hardly reached Lagos when Ife/Modakeke war began. there was no GSM so to reached him back would mean sending letter to his postal address. So, we were stuck in a place called 'iyekere' (where my granny had her house) less than five minutes trek to modakeke town. The war is better than be part of. my seventy year old granny saved us by using local parlance with the rioters as we were trying to escape to my aunt's husband house at 'Ojoyin'-still not far from the border.
one saturday evening, the residence pastor of CAC Ojoyin was reviewing bible for sunday service when we saw him fell down where we were playing football due to the confidence that the soldiers' presence had restored. Alas, it was stray bullet.
To cut the long story short, it was not a palatable experience how much more biafra war that could be bigger than that.
Respect to my late Oba, Sijuwade but i would like to recall that his son was in London yet there was announcement that irrespective of your age, as long as you were brave, come to palace to recieve gun and charm: off you go to the war front. (omo olomo la n ran nise de toru toru) meaning, it is easier to send son of another man on a delicate errand than yours.
youths of our great nation, irrespective of your affiliation, don't be pushed by an angry, selfish man to follow his cause. you are far wiser than that. i am subject to enlightenment but in my opinion Bia was coined from igbo word which come while i strongly believe that Fra would have something to do with Franca's name (the adorable wife of our great Ikemba though he would deny it if you wake him up.
And my plea, if you did not witness last war personally, relocate to sambisa forest for few months or syria before you call for another civil war.
dear youth before biafra, what is your age?

what is wrong with this people and "if you did not witness the war" thing they keep talking about? We did not witness the war but most of us have recieved first hand account of what happened from our parents and relatives. It's not like we don't know all that happend.

" please forget Biafra agitation, it will lead to war, starvation, loss of property and investment, suffering and death! Kanu will lead people astray and run back to Britain! Biafra died in 1970! The people agitating for Biafra never saw the war!"

What is wrong with Nigerians these days that they cant think objectively? People will see a house burning, instead of asking what caused the fire, they will ask why the house is burning even though they can see it is burning.

People will see a dead Biafran protester and say 'if she/had not come out to protest it would not have happened' but the same people don't ask why the police is shooting unarmed protesters when there are rubber bullets, water spray and teargas that can do the same job without loss of life.

People say 'Kanu is a hate preacher and terrorist' yet no act of terrorism can be attributed to him and all he did was excercise his constitutionally guaranteed right to free speech.

People will say 'Biafra brought war' while it is Nigeria that came down to the East to start war.

People will say 'little kids starved to death' without questioning why Gowon would not allow food to get to people.

People say 'all is fair in war' but many people are standing trial in the international court in The Hague for war crimes exactly because they were not fair in war.

People will say 'why should Ojukwu declare Biafra?' but they never ask why a white man should declare us all Nigerians.

People say 'one Nigeria' but we all lived alongside each other for thousands of years before Lugard created Nigeria 100 years ago. Are we happier together today than we were when we were not together?

This myopic level of reasoning by Africans is why the continent is not moving foward. We keep asking the wrong questions and lying to our selves. It's a shame

Self determination is a right, not a privilege

What has independent got to do with witnessing a war? Who is fighting who?
What war has the Scottish, Catalonia, East Timor, Taiwan or Tibet witnessed before the quest for freedom?
What war did Nigeria witnessed before they asked their independent from Britain? Shut your mouth if you don't have any more excuses, it is not a crime not to speak at all.
What a brainless post!!

i wonder why are the yorubas getting worked up becos of biafra.this are the people that call igbos parasites and ask igbos to leave their region.the same yorbas has floated more anti biafran thread than any other tribe.even the hausas are not even fidgeting the way the yorubas are.
The question is what do you stand to lose if tue landlock region like you call them go theif way?..wjat is your business if they cant feed themselves? the biafran agitation has exposef you yorubas as buncu of loud mouthed people who are too artificial on all ramifications of life with no mind of theirs.

hmmmm. in some quarters, it's believed that lord lugard marriage was useless. it's largely true.
i am not tribalistic. i have successful igbos as friends. i never related with them as igbo but true nationalist and enlightened citizens of our world.
nigerians are just too tribalistic. do you know that in a state people still say they are sidelined from affairs.
every tribe has its strength and weakness which i am not ready to point out here.
God bless your struggle but don't be used by someone who will put his family in safe haven and endanger your future.
consider pros and cons before you follow a cause.
I'm a Nigerian and she will work and walk in my life time and i will be part of the success.
