'Thin Client PC' is a computer terminal that does not need its’ own CPU, Hard Disk and Memory to operate but feeds on the resources of a Host computer. Several Thin Client workstations can be networked to share a Single Host PC. Each Thin Client user will be able to run applications simultaneously and independently -including web browsers, e-mail, photo manager, Microsoft office suites, and multimedia just like working on a standard PC.

Lab Architecture
Our lab solution will have a Host PC which will be a high end desktop with a server operating system installed and several Thin client-PC workstations. The server is a powerful system equipped with the internal storage/processor capacity for handling multifaceted/diverse application programmes.

STARTING UP THE COMPUTER BASED EXAM LAB
POWER SUPPLY UNIT
The entire Lab is powered by a system of “UNINTERUPTIBLE POWER SUPPLY” units [UPS].
--Switch on the mains circuit breaker to the ups system
--Depress the On button on the UPS holding it down for 3 to 4secs for it to power on.
[NB: same reverse process applies when shutting down the ups systems, depress and hold the off button down for 3 to 4secs for it to power down]
If the UPS has not been in any use or received charge for 2 to 3weeks before lab operations, it’s advisable to ensure it’s charged for up to 8hrs before loading them with workstations. You can easily confirm the charge level by looking at the battery indicator on the screen.
