Why is it hard for the police to carry pistols as opposed to rifles? Its 2015 men, you need something you can use easily with one hand... Gosh I don't get this mentality...

I have a problem with the Ak-47 assault rifle being used by the police for this type of aerial operation it is intended for.

Ak-47's effective range is about 300 meters; so it doesn't have long range capabilities.

So let's assume the police is engaging a gang of fleeing robbers from the helicopter in flight, the shots
fired from the Ak-47 will likely miss its targets at distances greater than 300 meters.
This puts civilians on the ground at great risk of getting hit by stray bullets.

In the same vein, if the helicopter maintains the 300 meters distance from the robbers being pursued, the operatives on board, as well as the helicopter itself can be hit by rounds from Ak-47 wielding robbers.

LASG needs to procure powerful long range assault rifles for these police marksmen for the initiative to pay off.
How many hand guns has longer range than AK 47?

Re: Lagos RRS Undergoing Helicopter Training Session - Pictured by pinkcita: 6:01pm On Dec 12, 2015
This is just for picture purposes,First how will you use an AK 47 on an Helicopter that is at least 1000 feet over the ground,it will surely get no target (this guy's should be properly trained on the real combat if they are serious)
Secondly, look at the firing position, they are all SQUATTING DOWN,how can you squat down to fire a real target..the recoil velocity of the gun will always make you lose target,i have not seen or read or know about squatting down position in shooting...what I know is kneeling, laying down, standing and sitting positions.this positions give you firm balance to fire and get your target well...what the heck are they squatting, they can't even squat for 10 mins during firefight(real fact)...I can train this dull police men as a bloody civilian..NONSENSE

Lagos helicopter training.
Re: Lagos RRS Undergoing Helicopter Training Session - Pictured by Jakumo(m): 8:42pm On Dec 12, 2015
In addition to fast-rope descent practice from hovering helicopters, it is vital that the airborne policemen are extensively trained to refine the rifleman skills needed to ensure accurate shot placement at moving targets engaged on the ground by the door-gunner of a moving helicopter placed at varying approach angles and helicopter altitudes during such practice, until the targets can be picked off with surgical precision, and with minimal exposure of the chopper to ground fire, under a variety of tactical scenarios.

Maybe that's why the Air Force has continued to use the Fabrique Nationale...
