Here I am with flowers As frail as lily I thought I don't love him His voice makes me hide As killing as a plague I thought I don't love him His horn; I fear As powerful as death I thought I don't love him The man, I fear On a sick bed As gentle as a fawn I thought I don't love him Before the sickness I know who he was As youthful as the month of may I thought I don't love him His cane makes me cry As unmerciful as the billows He did that to bring me up Oh God! I love him There I stand As frightened as Macbeth before the ghost of Banquo The man I fear I thought I don't love him I don't want to lose him The hospital room As sour as lime As silent as thought I thought I don't love him There I stand with flowers Speechless as a stone His face As innocent as a lamb My face As sober as a judge I thought I don't love him Oh God! I love him I wrote this poem when I saw my dad on the hospital bed. |
