Nihilist:This post here proves my whole point. How many times have I heard this before? even from the time of AVB being Jose's scout. You hear this "attention to detail" thing the players band about with Jose's methods. From Terry, to Lampard, to his coaches. But pay attention and you will discover that this attention to details is always directed to the defensive side of the game. Preventing the opposition from scoring.Tell me how many times we ever heard an attacker praise Jose for this attention to detail "IN ATTACK"? I mean an attacker on TV, detailing how Jose instructs the movement of ball through the channels; how he instructs players ahead of play to move; how he instructs players to move into space; What we always hear and see is the clear display of Jose's preference for stopping the opposition rather than attacking it. Even Hazard complained last season, that our only game plan in attack is to give the ball to him. Aha! And this sums up the whole thing - my consistent argument for many years. Yes he prepped the guys to counter Leicester's attacking prowess but what happened when the plan failed? The obvious response was to go attack and get a goal. What did we do in attack? Absolute Zilch! How were we to even the scores without scoring? I don't buy this players are not playing to instructions thing. The truth instead is that players in defense have lost confidence. So instead of concentrating on more defensive tactics, let's see if we can maintain the same level of defense and then try to bail ourselves out by outscoring the opposition. The reality though is that this is never going to happen. So please expect the slump to continue. Brace yourselves! I repeat, when your whole methodology is predicated on preventing the opposition from scoring, then one day when that defensive unit is faulty (as it is now), you will find it difficult to win games because the very fundamental element that wins games (goal-scoring) has been consistently absent. |

Nihilist:I like to study central midfielders and their functions which is why I keep harping on about the utter incompetence of Chelsea midfield. . . . N'Golo Kante is a solid ninja, skillful and energetic at the same time. . . . soon as I saw the nigga play, I was impressed.

nateevs:You actually have been saying the same thing for years, and that shows consistency, I'll give you that.. Because you have been consistently wrong. Jose has set point records in Portugal. He set point records in England. He set point records in Spain. That is not the hallmark of someone who cannot coach attacking football. Last season Chelsea scored the second highest amount of goals in the league and averaged around 57% possession for the season. That is not the hallmark of a coach who only knows how to defend. The same Jose that beat Guardiola's Barca 3-1 with Inter does not know how to attack? Jose is not like all the other coaches in the world. He is extremely pragmatic and does what needs to be done. He's less interested in losing beautifully when he can win ugly. And because he is not a slave to any football ideology, people continue to perpetuate this myth about him not understanding attack. This is very similar to the myth around Simeone, and Dayo showed only yesterday that Athleti only park the bus against a select few sides, and actually are in the top 5 (or 10?) for possession in Europe this season So you can keep saying it for the foreseeable future, but It will be just a myth. It's not true. The facts simply do not support it. |

How can anyone say Jose does not know how to play attacking football? Seriously? I watched EVERY SINGLE match while he was at Inter and them boys were ALWAYS in gung-ho mode. Attacking relentlessly. Heck even in the TIM Cup. And I said to myself, damn, this man has got to come back to CFC. FACT is Jose gets the job done, ugly or not. who cares? I don't. This is the worst period in his career and I believe he should be given the chance till the end of the season. Let him prove himself as the BEST of the VERY best. |

Abramovich would then like to prize Simeone away from Atletico Madrid and re-build with the animated Argentine at the helm. The report claims Abramovich's options are slim after Carlo Ancelotti agreed to succeed Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich and Guardiola expected to join Manchester City next year. Sleekdot...Is this true? Honestly baba olowo no sabi football, abi na the technical board no sabi football, why think of Ancelotti in the 1st place? Simeone is fine! |
