Traditions Imbibed By The Church Over The Years by Highcuerayte(op): 9:18am On Dec 20, 2015
As the end approaches so will knowledge of Truth increases, with increase of knowledge comes unstoppable Spiritual freedom. Over the years and even till now, the Church like many gatherings have exchanged Truth for traditions some of which are harmless and some of which are harmful.

1. Preaching Of The Gospel: When we say gospel we mean Good news. Over the years the church has imbibed the habit of preaching the wrong gospel, "Give your life to Jesus". Though with this wrong gospel people come into Faith (but wrong faith) yet they fall out as quickly as they fall in or as they do become wolves in sheep clothings. The true good news is that the Christ has come and this Christ is Jesus of Nazareth. So it is more of "Jesus is the Christ" and less of "Give your life to Jesus." If you love witnessing for Christ stop the habit of "Give your life to Jesus" and see the fruit of your Labour.

2. Prayer : The precedent here is specious. Articulated to be the crescent of Faith and Truth but in Truth are just traditions. Shouting and calling the name of Jesus repeatedly at prayer outset and saying what we call the grace are all traditions. Though they are harmless yet they are unnecesary. Of course you are about qouting scriptures that says "Ask in my name" as you can see it's "ask in my name" not "shout in my name" plus "the grace" as you call it is the signature of Paul.

3. Festivities: Christmas, Easters, Harvest and all kind of festivities are traditions imbibed by the Church. Some excused themselves from Christmas and Easters but still hold on to Feast of Harvest. These things are useless to our Faith and little wonder it is that we left out the only festivity of Faith, the Holy Communion.

4. Fasting: The Church has by tradition categorized something that cannot be categorized, Fasting. White Fast, half day fast, marathon fast and on and on and on. Pastors will say you can eat yam just don't put salt on it. Some will say you can break your fasting by 12:00, 3:00PM or 5:00PM . Fasting means going without food, anything contrary to that is tradition and fasting lapse 24 hours. If you don't have the strength to fast, don't. It's not a must you do. Only when you fast do it in the way acceptable to God not tradition.

Though one must say that these things above, most of it are harnless on the surface but the Truth remains as with the Holy words "In vain do they worship me, teaching as commandment the traditions of men." Let us learn to please the Lord. God bless us.
