StriveHard:Bebeto. Oyakhilome. Stop jumping. Someone already compared him and I quoted the person. Of course Ali and the likes were heavy weights but the statement made earlier was IF they were in the same WEIGHT class. Leave story with all that nonsense boxing legend shait. Mayweather is a legend in his own right. The Number one rule of BOXING is DO NOT GET HIT. He has done this so efficiently so give him his credit. Boxing is not streetfight so we are not trying to figure out who punches hardest or who knows how to throw 1 million jabs. Boxing is about efficiency. Connecting the most punches and avoiding hits. Period. |

mpowa:Stop misyarning. The comparison was based on them being in the same weight class. Jeez. With regards to your statement about not being able to escape blows throughout a match - Have you ever watched a Mayweather fight? He has been doing this for over 18 years. |

EbolaParasite:Yea, I later saw I misyarned, you're right, didn't read the post u responded to, but now with your new statement, I insist if he faced Ali the greatest, he can't survive 1st round, he go chop at least one heavy blow and that's it - Ali was an heavy weight but moves as fast as a light weight boxer. |

There will always be another Ayton Senna, there will always be another Kareem Abduljabah, there will always be another Pele, there will always be another Sachin Tendulkar, there will always be another Roger Federer, there will always be another Usain Bolt but there will always be one Mohammed Ali.He transcended the sport of boxing,he was a generational icon like Coca-Cola,marvel comics and rock and roll. |

mpowa:You are going too far by comparing Mayweather with Ali the greatest ,pound for pound(fighting at the same weight-for other other readers who may not understand 'pound for pound').Even against 3 of the fabulous 4(Sugar Ray Leonard,Thomas Hearns,Roberto Duran)Mayweather would have lost(I didn't mention the 4th member of the fabulous 4,Marvin Hagler because Hagler was a Middleweight boxer and Mayweather never fought in the middleweight class.Mayweather is good but against Ray Leonard(speed, footwork, combination, heart),Duran(pressure fighter, heart, hands of stone),Hearns(best right hand in boxing history, speed, height, predator instinct) or even Wilfredo Benitez(perhaps the most aggressive defence in history) in their prime Mayweather will lose. |
| Re: Muhammad Ali In Agbada Constume In Lagos 1964 by babafirst(m): 6:38am On Dec 24, 2015 |
StriveHard:I agree with you,Mayweather fought in a 'soft' era.In the era of Sugar Ray Leonard,Roberto Duran,Thomas Hearns and Wilfredo Benitez ,Mayweather would have been beaten silly. Those guys fought anything that came to them,3 of them even strayed into the middle weight class to dare the dreaded Marvin Hagler. |

You can count the number of boys with shoes in that crowd. No wonder one of our past dismal leaders surfed to power on a "tale of no shoes". I wonder if Shoelessness = Cluelessness? |

My best boxer of all time. Even Mike Tyson confessed in an interview that if he had fought Ali in 1965 when Ali was practically a killing machine in the ring, he (Tyson) would have been blown apart. Tyson made this statement after he was asked to review the fight between Ali and Cleveland Williams. Ali was a devastating combination of speed and punching power. Sadly, the US authorities took away his best years (1967 - 1970) and the Ali that came after then was not the same Ali of 1962 to 1967. |
