Pls is anybody experienced on altima n its maintainance because my frnd said its a problematic car. Pls Altima users ya candid advise is needed.

I don't know much about it but from my interactions with mechanics not a good rating. Although, not good or problematic is relative. This is because people forget that there is no car that is not good it just depend on the user. For instance, when I wanted to buy honda baby boy back then, people including mecos condemned the car...bla..bla...bla it always have shaft and gear problem... I ignored it and went ahead to get the car. I tell you through out the period I used the car I never had such problem...

OP, if u love the ride and you are sure to care for it in terms of timely maintenance and repairs, use of manufacturer's recommended oil, amongst others please go for it..Also, get a good meco and rewire.

People of this world sef. Every car brand has its own flaws and stuffs like that. I used an altima 07 for over 2 years and i had little or no major issues...except maybe the regular servicing and then change the fuel pump once in 8 months ( it happens )

The bottomline is that - the way you maintain a car determines a lot. Mechanics will tell you that toyota cars have radiator issues, honda cars na leg or shocks, ford na electrical, Nissan na other issues.

Nissan is a great product and cheaper than most car brands in its range thanks to ignorance of our mechanics who instill fear in buyers.

Even the most condemned nissan model in Nigeria "murano" still has loyal caucasian buyers who prefer it over any toyota or honda.

Bottomline, know about the car and it's maintenance and leave all this thermostat removing mechanics from your decision making.

The problem with our people is that they condemn all cars as long as its not a Toyota or Honda. If we go by what mechanics advise, we will not use Nissan, BMW, Ford, VW, Opel and other interesting brands.

All these cars require is maintainace "As Recommended" by the manufacturer. Usually they specify the gear oil, engine oil and other lubricants that Shld be used. Do not buy generic oil and pour in. That it what causes the damages that make people say these brands are not good.

After Nissan Murano was roundly condemned for always having gear problems, they later discovered that people had been using the wrong gear oil and that was the cause of the issues. But then, the damage had been done.

What I will recommend is, no matter the car u decide to use, especially if it's a bit sophisticated, ensure it is worked on by experts. I concede some of them have complex electrical configurations. Knowing this, do not make d mistake of having a 'Wasiu Rewaya' or Taju electrician dip his hands into your engine. Cos they will damage it and end up blaming the car

A simple 30 min research on your car using Google will give you more depth than these cars "serial killers" called mechanic.

Some of them dropout of school in search of easy cash and didn't even learn the trade before moving out with thier death tools to condemn cars to thier grave
