We've heard na, he must do something next year.

Can't you see that you are repeating one same thing everytime, and the thing is becoming too boring. Are you the only person from Orlu and where were you when previous govs did not do much in Orlu and Okigwe?... Bro, you are sounding too political, infact, you have a hiden agendium.

If you are talking like this that means you don't know Orlu well before. Are you sure you are from Orlu or are you an impostor like Chino your friend? Orlu generally has been having flood problem more especially that st. Joseph axis, international market axis, Umuokpara(Orlu nwafor) axis, and owerri-ebeiri/umuowa axis so stop doing as if it was Rochas that created the problem while he's trying to remedy it.

Those untarred streets you are complaining about, had it been Udenwa and Ohakim did something on them today you'll not be blaming Rochas on their state, that innocent man has tried for Imo state, he can't do everything at once, is he a magician?

On the issue of flood, i think it's federal govt that suppose to come tackle the problem.
You don't want anybody talk about Orlu and possible eruption of diseases and misfortune from abandoned road and urban drainage projects? Good man.

Gutter or tunnel for Orlu Urban drainage system beginning at St. Joseph's Catholic church is the responsibility of the state government, not federal.

Previous Imo state governor Ikwechegh started the tunnel which you and Gov Okorocha and Abagworo now wrongly call federal project.

Coating the roads scrapped by Okorocha agents in Orlu, and completing the town's drainage system: reasonable people can't stop talking about these two life-saving projects in Orlu, no matter how much you want the projects ignored in your preference for building flyovers and new roads, and towers and drainage systems etc, in Owerri.
Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Abagworo(m): 10:59pm On Dec 27, 2015
The huge success of "Freedom Falls" and the controversial Christmas tree should inspire Okorocha to invest more on sightseeing and leisure parks around Owerri. The influx of people from all over Nigeria to come and witness the Owerri Christmas 2015 is overwhelming. Please the "Akachi Tower" area should be turned into a beautiful scenic garden with waterfalls and advanced water play pools. In as much as these may not increase State IGR, they help reduce unemployment and hunger.

Oga, my little problem with you is that you complain alot. Now you said Amadi Ikwechegh of 1980s(old Imo state) started it, why is it that Ike Nwachukwu, Allison Madueke, Evans Enwerem, Achike Udenwa, and Ikedi Ohakim could not complete it?

That thing is a huge project that will consume alot of money. No nearby river to channel it to, taking it to Ogidi valley is not the ultimate because it will pose another ecological problem tomorrow.

this is a life-saving project.
what Gov. Okorocha spent on one side of a one kilometre urban drainage tunnel or Gutter in Owerri could have completed the Orlu urban drainage gutter which is less than 800 meters from St. Joseph's Catholic church to Ogidi valley.

The valley shall take the floods cool, ma dear.

All those governors you mentioned after Ikwechegh, they were all insensitive governors as far as urban drainage was concerned.
Udenwa who hailed from Orlu but did not complete the drainage committed higher offense

Problem is that Okorocha scrapped nearby roads and worsened the problems.

That drainage project was foremost reason why Orlu youths voted Rocha Okorocha en mass.

Last three weeks, they poured stone on the St. Joseph's Catholic church worst spot alone Amaigbo road. But with the next few rains, the flooding shall worsen as before.

.Come to Orlu as you earlier said and see things for yourself.

Haba, do you think that you are talking to primary school pupils here.

My man i dey laugh, you can be funny. So the whole zone voted for their son just because of orlu urban drainage?

I've told you before, that st. Joseph has been posing great problem to Orlu before the inception of Rochas govt, the dualisation of that road with big drainage systems helps to reduce the flooding.

On a serious note, how do you normally get your figures in respect to road and drainage length, are a quantum expert? That thing is more than 800m, stop misinforming people here. I'll still tell you, taking the flood to Ogidi valley will cause serious problem that will be worse than what you see today.

So don't advise anybody to do that.

Mandax complains a lot we agree, but please don't fault him when he complains about the Orlu drainage project, because the ecological challenge the town is faced with is real and should be talked about. My only anger with him, is his continuous whinning on the pages of nairaland rather than get to the appropriate quarters to seek solution.
When you say Orlu lacks nearby rivers to carryout out an ecological project I laugh. Orlu is not lacking one bit in flowing rivers. Many nearby rivers exist to channel any drainage activity irrespective of the magnitude. I know of one river at Mgbee connecting Orlu with Ideato. There is also the Njaba river and Iyi Idemili another alternative source which can be look into for a massive project. However the problem is not with executing the project, the problem is the political will power to do it. Successive governments of Imo state have turned their ears away from the drainage project. And Orlu sons too should also be blamed for keeping mute when Udenwa was Governor and even now Rochas is wielding the seat of authority. If not for Mandax who comes here to whine, you hardly hear of a serious grassroot push by Orlu people.
The buck now lies on every Orlu sons and daughters both home and diaspora to do something about this rather than allow it rest squarely on government shoulders. They wear the shoe and knows where it pinches. To start with, there can form a body to contact international donor agencies that would partner with either the federal or state government to finance the drainage project.
NB: Orlu is not the only town in Imo or the south east faced with that problem. Infact every town that sits on top of a hill is also facing the same challenge.
Re: Few Pics From Imo State by mandax: 8:50am On Dec 28, 2015
B2mario,

Wallahi, you don't wish people in Orlu well.

An Israeli Construction company TechnoTransfer mapped out the Orlu urban drainage project for Imo stat government during the Ikwechegh administration.
It projected to channell the floods into Ogidi valley.

More than mentioned by Chiwude, there are other streams/valleys in Orlu to channel the Orlu flood. There is Mgbede stream/valley also, but the closest valley to channel the floods is nearby Ogidi. From St Joseph Church to the Ogidi valley is less than 1 kilometre.
Google the meaning of the word: foremost. I said the drainage project was foremost of the reasons Orlu youths voted Rocha Okorocha.

@Chiwude,

What governor Okorocha spent on building one side of one underground drainage system in Owerri is enough to dig gutters from St, Joseph Catholic church Umuna to Ogidi valley to channel away Orlu urban floods.
Like you correctly pointed out, it is lack of will power on the part of governors of Imo state.

International organizations or federal government or charity organizations have nothing to do with urban drainage system in any state in Nigeria.

.Federal government comes in for ecological problems like erosion, land slide, but never for problems like the Orlu urban drainage project which is wholly the responsibility of Imo state government.

Yes there was at all level. Now the fees paid by non-indigenes will reduce government's expenditure on education.
Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Abagworo(m): 9:08am On Dec 28, 2015
Other parts of Imo State have not received as much attention as Orlu area and it is not good. Focus should move to Okigwe. There is only one major road in Okigwe town and it has remained uncompleted and ugly till date. Owerri road, Okigwe needs reconstruction as well as one more arterial road like Okpara Road or Agiriga road. Before Okorocha, Okigwe was bigger than Orlu but its growth has been stagnated and Orlu has outgrown it. Even Mbano area like Anara, Amaraku, Amauzari and Umuelemai needs more infrastructure than Orlu. Those places used to compete with Orlu in the past.

I don't think its UNESCO as Imo State cannot be singled out from 35 other States for such project.

Chiwude,

People of means in Orlu have been pleading with Gov. Okorocha to complete this drainage project.
People from Ideato are worried, because in one way or the other, it affects Ideato people. Even the Archdiocese of Owerri; the risk of St. Joseph's Catholic church Umuna caving in with worshippers inside moves every normal person.

There is no person in Orlu that is not aware and troubled by the menace from this uncompleted urban drainage project here, and they are aware that it's the responsibility of Imo state government to complete the drainage system.

If it rains for about five minutes, flood creates havoc here, more so, in the last four years.

I remind a few persons that visit NL about it often for awareness sake.

No responsible government would wait for explosion of media lashing against it, or street protests, before the government takes up its responsibility.

Rochas as an Ideato-Orlu man knows the importance of that drainage. His community is a stone throw from Orlu urban and his understanding of the area as well as the effect of Ndi-Ideato being cut off completely from the road made him carry out some constructions within Orlu. Some of the constructions where borne out to mordenize Orlu, while others were to tame the future ecological problem. However, the road constructions of the government are yet to be completed and may be a major reason why the urban drainage system is yet to kick start or so.
But, regardless of the approach taking so far by the IMSG, I think Ndi-Orlu must come together and formally schedule a meeting with Douglas house. Let them sensitize their people on this matter, draw up a conclusion and present it before Rochas. Maybe, and maybe a useful action will be drawn through this part.

Rochas is from Kano..

He has been sending Imo money to Kano for many many years..
He has built schools in Kano and he has given scholarship to all the kids in Kano..
And he is starting a program where he will transfer all the children from Kano to Imo as part of his agenda to Islamise you people..
Even police..
They are all working together to bring Hausa police to Imo..

Do not be fooled by their politricks and their excuses..

Those people want one thing and one thing only..

To make you all become muslim..

Owerri people didn't have to meet before Rochas did the innumerable development projects, including underground drainage projects Rochas did in Owerri.
So Orlu people don't have to meet to ask Rochas Okorocha to do what he was elected to do.

Repeat: money spent by Okorocha government to build just one side of his many drainage systems in Owerri - like Orlu road in Owerri - is enough to complete the Orlu urban drainage project.

If Okorocha continues to ignore the completion of the urban drainage project and coat the scratched roads in Orlu, and people finally rise against him, it may be another story altogether. Emperors rise and fall.
