I think Igbos will take a hit from the oil price decline but not much compared to other people in the South like the Niger delta whose budget will fall below redemption as only 830B will be available for budget however i think only N211B will be available for 13% derivation sharing for all the Niger delta state Can someone confirm this for us. But on a more serious note , the fall in oil price might really hit yoruba companies below the belt like mad , i see a huge drop in the finances of yoruba owned companies and the corresponding yoruba banks handling their finances like GTB , first bank , skye bank and sterling bank which is already looking for a merging partner to escape the regulators prying eyes, Wema bank is already gone with the wind of oil price fall. some of the companies already taking the hit include Oando that made a record loss of N140b for the last business year i dont really see how Oando might recover and become more profitable even if buhari gives Tinubu more oil wells , where will he sell the oil wells . Conoil is virtually written off just waiting for the banks to come with underwriters and debt recovery experts as their revenue has dropped drastically for the second year running triggering a pull out by shareholders from the company stocks Adenuga just relinquished control over his bank to sterling bank which i heard was looking for a merging partner last week in Victoria Island or an outright buy off. AP made a smart move by investing in power but for how long will the stay afloat since GEJ is no longer there to be influenced by obasanjo to bend the rules for them moreover as power stabilizes nobody will require their diesel anymore . Folwaiyo group which has received the hammer of DPR with capital oil over subsidy issues is already gone as the subsidy money which they all struggled over is gone i do not foresee future for the energy arm of the group. Also oil price drops further to the $20 mark more Nigerian Billionaires who made fortune from oil like Mike Adenuga , Mrs Alakija and Otedola will be welcome back to the thousandnaires club which they belonged prior to 1999 , Nigerians should expect sell of private yatches , private jets and estates belonging to these people as the cut their expenditure to size. Jimoh Ibrahim's case is just a case for another day as the Nairaland servers will not contain the number of pages of analysis of his fall from the billionaire cadre and the ruining of Air Nigeria, Nicon and his oil company. May God help the south west this coming financial year and the people of the Niger Delta have Chima Ibeneche to thank for relocating NLNG Headquarters to Bonny Island during his last years in office , this to me is the only meaningful investment the South South attracted during Jonathan's Regime, Gas industry still has value despite to fall in oil price |

APCLyingBastard:Let me guess. So they can take control of our oil right? Something they themselves now export so as to crash the price making oil irrelevant! |

kayfra:A naval and air base which is strategically located to access much of West, central and north Africa. Congo and Angola especially where they hope to check Chinese inroads in Africa. But most importantly to have access to the biggest and proven oil reserves offshore in the Bight. You think oil prices are crashing due to natural demand and supply rules? The US and Saudi are manipulating the market in order to crash Russian and Iranian economy. |

APCLyingBastard:The case of Osun and their comical character governor is just a story that should be turned into children's movies and story for children's literature like the story of Ali baba and the 40 thieves, the thief of Bhagadad and the great bank robbery , osun state will surely earn the copy right and revenue from such artistic works. The story of how a state whose acclaimed GDP and yearly budget made states in the eastern states green with envy cannot eve pay its electricity bills. The state should eventually be degraded to a senatorial zone and be merged or amalgamated to another neighboring state like Oyo. Titles of the would be film could be the thief of Osun , the great state robbery etc |

I just wonder the kind amala dey are eating in the sw. How can the ND be worse off than the SW states? The tax burden will have to go up to meet the downfall and this may result to companies shutting down or relocating to less taxed states in the ND especially does in the oil and gas sector. Even if the crude crash to a dollar, all the ND states will receive more than Osun. asorocker: |

Vulu:Idoma has which largest reserves? Exploration for smaller wells began when oil was trading over $100. That is why Ghana started their oil industry. But with low prices nobody is going to bother investing and building a pipeline from Benue to the coast rather they will concentrate offshore where there is least interaction with the communities. Use brain |
