not a defect. it's a cheap phone and manufacturer does not install hardware controller.

Well before you start, I hope and assume you know what root is and have decided to accept every responsibility that comes with it

Requirements:
**A PC[winXP - Win 10]


**Mtk vcom drivers for your windows version and architecture type(i.e 32 or 64bit)

if you're through meeting all requirements, and transferred all the files to your PC... we can now start

Note: Grab a drink at this point, just to ease your spirit


++Create Gionee M3 mini folder in your desktop and move all the files there except super su zip
++Extract Sp flash tool zip into a folder
++Extract recovery and scatter file into another folder
++Extract Vcom drivers and install them... Tut guide is above. For win Xp, choose either 32 or 64bit depending on your OS type, right click then tap install
**After you're sure Vcom drivers are installed, you can proceed


++Launch Sp flash tool by double clicking "Flash tool.exe" or running it as administrator (if you have administrative rights)
++makes sure its at "Download only"
++ click scatter loading, then locate scatter file by "Desktop => Gionee M3 mini then locate the folder you extracted it to"
++When its loaded, only Recovery should be ticked... any other could harm your phone
**make sure twrp recovery img and scatter file are in the same folder

++ click download at the top of sp flash tool
++Switch off device, remove battery then reinsert battery but do not switch it ON
**Make sure power is stable at this point... a laptop or UPS enabled desktop is needed... make NEPA no fall your hand

++After clicking download, Stop should be green... Now plug device and then wait... It shouldn't take long(approx 30secs max), if after 5 minutes nothing happens, remove your device and restart the tutorial
++If everything works fine, you should get a "download OK"... if it shows any error, quote my moniker
++Remove phone and Reboot to recovery by pressing "Vol+ button and Power button" at the same time, stop pressing when the gionee logo comes on... You should see "TeamWin recovery project"... if you don't, redo the tutorial


**Continue with this part only if you have TWRP installed"

++Now in TWRP, swipe the round icon at the bottom to modify system, trust me it'd save you a lotta stress
++ Tap install, change storage, then locate the Supersu binary.zip, tap it then swipe the round icon to install... wait for it to finish then reboot
++Ignore system root warning after reboot by tapping "close"

Congratulations!!!! You're rooted

++Free up to 6gb in your SD card, then reboot to recovery again to do a backup... Mine was 5.3gb in size, yours could be smaller or even bigger, depending on the number of apps you've got
++Tap backup, some options should be ticked by default, Ru suggested backingup NVRAM
++After backup, your free to enjoy your phone


Root is as dangerous as it is fun, Don't go giving root permission to any crappy app that's asks for it.... and please don't quote the whole tutorial

Remove ur ba3, u will see ur default imei nos, write dem down, den use mtk engineering apk nd luk 4 d proper way of changing imei nos, either on Nairaland or Google it.

When switched off phone connected to USB - you have only 1 second to start Flashing. If something gone wrong (no drivers... etc.) - phone out from flashing mode and reconnect to CHARGING mode.

better if before start SPFlashTool you correctly install Drivers+VCOM Driver to SwitchedOff phone
