TELL THEM THAT YOU ARE NOT A VIRGIN AND YOU HAD A SINFUL PAST BUT NEVER EVER GIVE SPECIFICS OF DETAILS ELSE THE LOVE MAY DERAIL.

Confession is not just important but compulsory and necessary. The thing about hidden sins is that there's that tendency to repeat them since u were not caught. Confession can prevent this.

U don't expect the innocent spouse to be happy and clap for you. Even if he/she decides to file for divorce, you know its the consequences of your action. Since nothing is truely hidden, it makes no sense hiding it.

People retaliate when they sense that the offender has no remorse. It is done to get back at the other person. When one is truly repentant, I don't think the innocent spouse would retaliate. However if they do retaliate it shows the kind of spouse one is married to. It's also an opportunity to show them how u wanted them to treat u when u erred.

It's better your spouse finds out from you, than elsewhere (unmarried couples).
For married couples, confession is one step to cleansing.

In my own opinion, I don't think a confession is necessary especially if u are truly repentant cos it might deeply hurt your partner and u mite lose everytin, ur marriage, ur children etc, I understand that sometimes the guilt might be so much dat u alwys feel the urge to confess but I believe what your partner don't know won't hurt them, but make sure it never repeat itself

Your right tho, that is just my own opinion, the fear of the truth coming out is what make people usually confess and I don't blame them
