For all clapping for this government for this breach of our laws and abuse of state powers, dont worry, it will soon get to you or somebody you know. Every accused is presumed innocent until a competent court pronounced him guilty. Notwithstanding all the allegations, you will understand legal processes when Dasuki opens his defence in court and the government knows this, that is the reason they were using state power to keep him in detention.

Dont be surprised if another allegation surfaced again tomorrow. It started with Treason for having in his possession unlicensed, firearms later to Dasukigate etc The precedent now is, once you are arrested by police for whatever reason, even if the court grants you bail, police can rearrest you again. Then you will scream human right, then I will remind you of the dangerous precedent we all celebrated.
If Nigeria must develop, we must respect rule of laws.
This government is demodictatorship. It will soon get to you.

I hope those blaming the DSS for keeping nnamdi KANU can learn from this undecided KANU was released and rearrested just like dasuki. Shikena
And you don't understand the danger it posses to all of us?. Release and re-arrest is a loophole any law enforcement authority can exploit to keep anybody in prison, if we don't demand total compliance to rule of law.

The DSS is simply abusing the power vested on them by our constitution. Of course, Buhari who still see himself as a military ruler encourage this. Apparently, the president don't know the difference between military rule and democratic rule.

Even the police can keep YOU in detention forever using this loophole. All they have to do is prepare several allegations again YOU, and present them one after the other. If you're released for the first allegation, you'll be allowed to leave but re-arrested in front of the police station. Is that what YOU want?

Please, go and get more sleep. What public sympathy are we referring to? You think Nigerians, I mean NIGERIANS will bat an eyelid for Dasuki to be released? It seems you're not in Nigeria or you've not been following the clamp down of the Boko Haram sect on the Nigeria Army during the Goodluck Jonathan administration.

Dasuki will get no sneeze from Nigerians. We don't pray he dies soon but live to experience the pain and agony he and his cohorts put thousands of Nigerians into.

Thunder 74. Na that your moniker go fire you 74 times. Maybe you are talking this way because you do not have a relative who died in this avoidable Boko Haram mess Jonathan and his wicked aides have put us in.

My brother is a young officer in the Nigerian Navy and I see the pain in his eyes whenever he talks about five of his seniors who died like chickens in the war front just because they were ill equipped . These were young men who proudly and gallantly went to the war front to protect people like you and I but alas had to fall in the face of superior weapons.

It is people like you who defend criminals because of the filthy lucre they offer you that makes me ashamed of the legal profession. May you lose one of your own in this inferno and come here to tell me that Dasuki cannot be tried on several charges.

As long as it is not a case of double jeopardy, let them keep trying him on what ever plausible charges they can find against him. I'm waiting for you to come and quote the law against multiple criminal charges in Nigeria. Iranu.

and exactly what laws were broken? a man was arrested for an offence, the court granted him bail, he was promptly released and was re-arrested on another offence, what do you suggest? leave a suspect to roam free untill the new year?
and by the way, if his hands were clean, would he be arrested and rearrested for "imaginary" crimes as you claim. the guy is dirty, what does it matter whether he had an old beef with the President?
In case I am ignorant of the laws concerning arresting the same person for different crimes at different points in time, please enlighten me.

Thanks for your very wise words.

I really can't understand what type of people Nigerians are. Maybe they deserve all the suffering that's been heaped upon them. How can people be rejoicing at what is happenng to Dasuki? Are we no longer a nation of laws?

The man has been accused of crimes, he's been granted bail and has met the bail conditions, yet he's been re-arrested again on what grounds? Today it is Dasuki tomorrow it could be your friend, brother, wife, Father.

I hold no brief for Dasuki, if he's found guilty of the crimes he's been accused of, then he deserves the most harsh penalty possible, but please people, the rule of law is the fundamental building block of democracy. If it's removed we may as well be in a dictatorship. Those doing the arresting and jailing today, might themselves be the ones looking for the protection of the law tomorrow.

they are operating within the Rule of Law, this is a legal loophole that they are well within their rights to use. That you've been granted bail on certain charges by one court does not make you immune for getting charged with something else by another agency

Pls my fellow nairalanders, this country belongs to all of us. If Mr A have our money let him or her return it but if Mr B also have our money let also him or her return it. Now my question is What of that immediate past EFCC chairman that was accused of diverting more than 1 trillion from the returned stolen funds has he been invited or returned the money?

If that person I know is a criminal, by all means let them come and carry him. I'll even point them his/her way. The madness needs to stop. A court granting you bail and getting re-arrested is not illegal. Yes they started with weapons possession now they have a lot more. A court grants you bail for armed robbery, they go back and re-arrest the person for murder, nothing wrong there. Dasuki's case at this point hasn't been concluded in court yet but his crimes are out there. His crimes are being corroborated by people who worked for him, people the funds went to. No one at this point is denying they received money, all they're saying is they didn't know it was stolen money.
