I intend acquiring a FORD ESCAPE, I was advised not try it as I may not be able to cope with the stress associated with maintaining a FORD in Nigeria. But I do see quite a number of people driving FORDs especially here in PH where I live.

So folks, whats your take on this? If  you drive a FORD, what has been your experience? How easy is it to maintain a FORD in Nigeria?

Fear no more. RT Briscoe is now the authorized dealer of Ford in Nigeria! I am also aware that they have certified mechanics around the country too. This is good news for Ford owners and prospective owners. You may want to contact them or go to their website - www.rtbriscoe.com. The only thing is that I am not sure they sell Ford Escape but please call them to verify.

i dont know why people fear ford cars i drive a ford explorer o2 and have never had any problems with it altho i just bought it not too long ago,i dont know much about the escape tho.

Briscoe ford has made all things easy for ford owner, neither have i heard any complains about ford cars from people i know.
I'll say go ahead if you are a ford fan.They are very good cars.
just sold and '07 explorer last week, and the person keeps calling and telling of his oversatisfaction especially it's interior.

For my $$$, the question i will be asking is very simple" "Do i wanna be calling RT Briscoe everytime im in need of something" ? Or get a car that i can locally find the parts? The availability of parts and parts network is a bigger issue than whether you fear a car or not. EVERY CAR WILL NEED TO BE MAINTAINED /REPAIRED AT ONE POINT OR THE OTHER. NO MATTER WHAT MAKE.

I can bring a car to Nigeria 2more called lets say: "Toyota Devil" and ppl wont even blink without buying it. However another car can be called "Jesus Christ" and ppl will probably hesitate. 

Its a matter of belief of parts availability, familiarity with repair issue etc. RT Briscoe might not be always near everytime u need anything fixed, however a Toyota/Honda/Nissan mechanic will almost definately be around.

Dont get me wrong, i am not arguing whether Ford is a good car or not here, i am simply coming from the point of view of ease in fixing any problem that arises/regular scheduled maintenance.

A lot of people used to drive DAEWOO RACER and SKODA [/b]back in the early/mid 90's. Have u seen any on the road lately?    Don't be a follow follow

The Edge is why sale of Murano (rock bottom) went down, that truck is baaad.

I've got the machine right here in Nigeria.
Bricoe Ford's consignment isn't in yet, and they are very discrete about the price for now.

I'm sure i'll give you a very good deal comparing the Explorer i sold for N3.7m with just 12,000miles compared to N8.6m of Briscoe ford.
Up for really serious persons.

It will be hard to get the parts at Owode Onirin or Ladipo - And I can assure you it will come to it someday.

The Briscoe thing is that you should ask yourself IF they will for instance have the fuel pump of your FORD in stock like today for instance. I will advise that you do some very practical research before buying;

Get their number for instance - call them and ask for just very common things you might have to look into; Fuel pump, headlamps and Gear (Im not a pessimist - Im being very practical with you).

You can also try and go to Ladipo and ask for the parts of your vehicle - Just these things. Please bear in mind that the prices of parts is not necessarily determined by the car its to be used on BUT by the scarcity of that spare part.

Please be wise with your decision; A car you will park for 3 months because of a brake pad or disc is not a very smart decision IF its your main/only ride.

I'm very interested in this thread. I've been looking out to get a Ford edge, but the cost of maintenance and availability of spare parts remain of big concern to me. Looking up, this thread was last updated in 2010 (over 5 years ago), has the situation clearly changed or just insignificantly improved? My friend if you can't find a part go online and order or call their dealerships overseas they will be happy to ship it down to you for a fee. BT Briscoe is scrap they might not have minor parts dat u need. they do more of sales of their vehicles than maintenance especially if the vehicle wasn't bought from them. Then you are on your own. Don't let anyone deprive you of the car you so desire to drive. I used to hate a Ford vehicle but a ride in a Ford edge changed mindset. Ford makes strong and durable vehicles. if only people knew.

China has made it easy and super cheap to buy parts of popular Japanese cars in the market. This is not the case here with cars like ford. You must source the parts from America at very exorbitant prices.

Coscharis has been selling, servicing and maintaining Ford vehicles in Nigeria for a long time now. I think they also have the Ford Escape in stock.

No thief will rob you for your Ford and you can keep it for as long as you want.

Bad car means a lot of cars from hurricane Andrew and the Louisiana flood are in the market for sale as salvage cars, up to 100,000 cars with water damage so if you see water line in the trunk, mud under carpets the car has been flooded so there could be water in engine transmission, computer electronics that causes problems.

What is the durability in terms of maintenance and fuel economy of this car?

Still using DOS when we are on Windows 10.

There are a plethora of online platforms to buy OEM parts and have them delivered within 72 hrs. And a lot cheaper than the dubious tokunboh parts in Owode.

Most of those Chinese part are sub standard copies and not OEM standard.

So they may be cheaper but not definite, however, you will be buying them regularly. For instance where your Ford Break pads may last 2 years your Chinese ones will last 6 months.

My Ford break pads lasted 8 years 100,000 miles

Please, how has been your Ford escape Hybrid so far. Does it give incessant troubles. I'm thinking of getting one toks of it but considering the electrical system too.
