Every healthy democracy should have at least one thriving opposition party. There can be no democracy without opposition party(ies) because they make the ruling party sit up and govern appropraitely. But presently, we find that our ruling party detests any form of opposition. Frequent arrests of opposition party members who voice their opinions, warning statements made against the opposition, elected members of the opposition party being removed from their offices by the suspected manipulation of the judiciary e.t.c. How come in all 36 states of this country, most of the annuled elections are from states won by the opposition party? Is it that all other states won by the present ruling party was under a different country during the election hence there was no malpractice, did INEC conduct different type of elections for states where free and fair election was observed or is it that most Northern and South Westerners are saints? Let's allow our opposition to thrive in peace for the sake of democracy, peace. |

Pidggin:Is like someone needs to go and tutor buhari in Aso Rock on the discrepancy between being a oppositions and being an adversary(enemy). It is because from his actions so far, we can infer that he takes oppositions as his perceived enemies .Oppositions are concerned about the growth and development of the nation, that is why make reprimanding statements against the incumbent govt to instill discipline and effectiveness in them for the good of the nation. though they still maintain an agendum of attaining political bureau by dethroning the incumbent govt, but their foremost agendum is to influence the govt for good and palatable leadership. |

blueto:Exactly, but once you begin to play an active role in opposing some perceived unfavorable stance taken by this govt you will be exposing yourself to persecution eg Fayose and the likes. It seems true democracy ended with Jonathan. |
