Welcome To Akure City (pictures) by YorubaParapo: 10:03pm On Jan 05, 2016

Akure is a city in south-western Nigeria, and is the largest city and capital of Ondo State. The city has a population of 484,798. The residents of the City are primarily of the Yoruba ethnic group. It lies in the southern part of the forested Yoruba Hills and at the intersection of roads from Ondo, Ilesha, Ado-Ekiti, Benin and Owo

Akure is an agricultural trade centre for the yams, cassava, corn (maize), bananas, rice, palm oil and kernels, okra, and pumpkins grown by the Ondo branch of the Yoruba people. Although cocoa is by far the most important local commercial crop, cotton, teak, and palm produce are also cultivated for export. The town’s industries include electronics manufacturing, soft drink, bottling among others. Akure is the site of a federal university of technology (founded in 1981), Federal College of Agriculture and School of Health Technology.

Still unimpressed.
With the kind of money and potentials that state has, I expected better.

keep quoting me but i insist that Ado-ekiti looks way better than Akure in terms of beauty.

My ranking goes:
1.Lagos
2.Ilorin
3.parts of Ibadan
4.Ado-ekiti
5.Akure
6. Abeokuta
7.Osogbo
8.Benin

We. Are talking of the Capital here! Akure city is just like small Lagos, not as beautiful but close! And if you are looking for a well-organised neat state, Ondo state is it!

I would say this administration has tried!
Only Mimiko led administration has done well to refurbish the state although he lacks in some aspect like promptly payment of salaries! However, his projects are quite visible enough!
Projects such as Dual roads in various lga, Mother and child hospitals in various lga, Medical village with diagnostic and trauma centres in Ondo town, free school buses for school children in all lga, Mega schools with standard infrastructures like computers, swimming pools, fans, AC etc in each lga, Modern markets in each lga, the international event centre (the Dome) in Akure, Medical school in Ondo town, 1000MW Power plants still in progress in Omotosho etc!
I still believe he can do better in the area of prompt payment of salaries!
If subsequent administration can continue the good work, the state won't be recognised in few years!

Re: Welcome To Akure City (pictures) by DiademSh07: 11:48pm On Jan 05, 2016
Only what is needed right now are:
An industrial hub in Ore, especially with the new 1000MW Power plant in progress!
Recreational parks in Idanre hill and mountains!
Sea port in Ilaje!
Refineries in Ilaje!
Standard cocoa factories in towns that majorly produces Cocoa (Idanre, Akure, Ondo and Ile-oluji, Akoko). Akure and Ileoluji already has cocoa factories by the way!
Reviving the Glass industries in Okitipupa and Owo!
I would dance like craze If all these can be met by the subsequent administrations! let's say in 10 years time!

What's wrong with the mod! Why transfer the thread to the travel section? If Enugu, Anambra et al could have theirs in the politics section, why is Akure a different case?
Seun, Mynd should do the needful!
