It is a crime in Lagos state to use any child as housemaid or other form of domestic servant.
Please, report such cases asap to Office Of The Public Defender (Lagos State Ministry Of Justice)

Lagos state and childs rights compliance

Following the passage of the Child’s Rights Act 2003, Lagos State was one of the 1st states to pass the Child’s Rights Law. Recall that we earlier explained in this column that the issue of child’s rights falls outside the areas for which the National Assembly can make laws binding all states. So Child’s Rights Act 2003 is not binding on all the states of the Federation. All states were implored to pass their respective Child’s Right Laws.

Consequently, the Lagos State House of Assembly passed the Child’s Rights Law which was assented to by the Governor of Lagos State on the 28th day of May, 2007; thus providing a Law to enforce the rights of the child, and to amend and consolidate all legislations relating to the protection and welfare of all children in Lagos State. Since the passage of the Child’s Rights Law of Lagos State 2007, Lagos State has consistently and progressively taken steps to actualize the objectives of the law.

The law requires that machinery and structures be put in place for the implementation and enforcement of the provisions of the Child’s Rights Law. For instance, Sections 138 and 139 of the Child’s Rights Law of Lagos State 2007 provides for the establishment of courts to be known and referred to as the Family Court. The Family Court is to be at two levels: The Magistrate and High court levels. The Family Court is purely for the hearing and adjudicating of all matters concerning and relating to children.

In furtherance of this provision, Lagos State designated some courts at the magistrate and High Courts as Family courts. All matters concerning and relating to children were all transferred to the family Courts. Awareness of this progressive step was created.

Jesus! My God. How can a 26yr old woman do this to a 9yr old. My God and Lord! This is sad. This child is too young to be a maid. What does she even know? Its pathetic how parents bring children into the world only to suffer. At 9yrs of age, she should be in primary 5. Oh! My Lord heal this child. Women should be taught how to take care of other peoples' kids in various institutions biko. How can a chld be a maid? Am so weak right now.

Re: Woman Pours Hot Water On Kid Housemaid (graphic Pics) by magicminister: 1:40am On Jan 08, 2016
well, i blame the useless parents of the child.
All these poor people have children without ever giving a thought on how they will cater for them.
All they wanna do is walk around and disturb the life of other people as if others don't have needs.

My advise to the poor people is that you should never give your child out to anyone.
If na garri una see chop, make una chop am and be happy together.

Women mostly maltreat children that are not theirs, its naturally as bad it may sound. Just like the mother hen that protect its own and mostly attack other hen's chicks.

please apologize to real women out there.
The woman that hurt this child is mentally unstable but as we know, absolute power corrupt absolutely.
She had absolute power over this child and her true color has shown itself.
shame on her.
I will follow up on this child as soon as i wake up today!

In as much as i condemn the woman's action, you can never tell what the kid did to push the woman to that level of anger.

Children can be very stubborn at times, go and watch the movie "ITORO". I am in no way applauding the woman's action. Different people's have different anger management.

personally, I feel there's no level of crime the kid would have committed to make the woman do this to her...
pouring hot water on her is just out of it.

Today,my cousins made me cry by turning the house to a war zone.
but when I saw the look on their faces, the ager and urge to beat them just disappeared...
we should learn to control our anger especially when it comes to children

I am not saying what the woman did was right, but it takes grace of God to handle stubborn children. The woman exceeded her bounds though.

When you talk against people hiring kids as housemaids they will act as if you're saying something unheard of.

I hope that woman doesn't see the light of day in a very long time.
So infuriating.
