Bayelsa Poll: bomb Attempt At Jonathan’s Home by HungerBAD(op): 8:47am On Jan 10, 2016
Amidst the growing tension, reports of violence, security build up and counter accusations from the main contenders, PDP and APC, in today’s Bayelsa state supplementary re-run election, five suspected thugs said to be allegedly hired to bomb the home of the Former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan were arrested by the operative of the State Police Command.

The arrest, which was carried out in an unnamed hotel in Swali area of the Yenagoa local Government area of the State, has sparked off security concern in the state, leaving residence in a state of fear and anxiety.

The suspects were rounded up by the Police based on a tip off while they were perfecting their strategy on how to attack the Yenagoa home of the former president.

While the APC governorship candidate, Chief Timipre Sylva confirmed it during a media interaction and stated that the suspects were hired hands of the ruling PDP, the party is yet to react to the claim.

But the Police, through its spokesman, Astim Butswat, failed to mention the political affiliation of the arrested suspects, but insisted that those arrested were plotting to attack a yet to be identified target,”the arrested suspects include Timiere Matthew, 25; Samuel Joe, 27, Emeka Asupha, 34, Ebipre Ebebi, 25, and Okilo Matthew, 25.”

Butswat said “they were arrested based on a tip-off on the 6th of January at about 1500hrs, by the detectives from the Anti-Kidnapping and Anti-Vice unit who stormed a hotel premises in Swali community, Yenagoa.”

Bayelsans are expected to turn out once again to decides who rules them for another four years.

Already both party candidates, incumbent Governor Seriake Dickson of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and his main rival, Chief Timipreye Sylva, of the All Progressive Congress, APC, have been boasting of victory in today’s epic battle amidst the palpable fear that has grip Bayelsans over the growing incident of reported violence.

Preparations was in top gear at the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, as its officials were seen making final arrangement with the deploying of sensitive materials to the 101 units in the six local governments earlier cancelled and the contentious Southern Ijaw Local government area.

The re-scheduled Bayelsa State Governorship election billed for January 9, 2016 has opened the race, while the results expected from the poll appears dicey, despite the fact that the incumbent Governor is leading his main rival.

There are over 100,000 votes that are up for grabs in the seven Local Government Areas, where the exercise will take place and both Governor Seriake Dckson of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and Chief Timipre Sylva of the All Progressives Congress, APC are both in contention.

Dickson lead can be obliterated if the seeming popularity of the APC candidate in the six out of the seven LGA is factored into reckoning.

The Seven LGAs, with their voting strength are as follows; (1) Sagbama, with 6 polling units rescheduled, has 2005 votes. Others are ; (2) Yenagoa, 16 polling units and 8,383 votes.(3) Brass LGA, with 16 polling units, 2255 votes.

44 polling units were rescheduled in Ekeremor, the home LGA of the Minister Of State for Agriculture and Rural Development, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, and the area total votes for those units is 13,910 votes.

Next is Ogbia LGA, with 27 units, 5816 votes. Nembe, has 13 polling units rescheduled, with 4294 votes, while the contentious Southern Ijaw Local Government, still remain contentious as different figures were recorded for the local Government, with about 58, 000 votes being the conservative figures popularly agreed on.

However, the state APC are arguing that the total votes realizable form the area is 120,897 votes and if this turns out to be the right figure, could raise the bar and the total state wide votes for the re-run could rise to 157,00

Though the Bayelsa State Police Command said it has beefed up security ahead of the election in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area as they have increased its foot, vehicular, and waterways patrols, as well as intensive aerial surveillance in all nooks and crannies of the state, the reported attacks by thugs on party members is threatening an implosion.

The Bayelsa Deputy Governor’s brother Beinmopre Jonah escaped death by the whiskers on Thursday, as suspected thugs invaded his residence in Ekeki, Yenagoa local government area of the state, leaving him unconscious.

The suspected thugs, as reliably informed, were said to have stormed the area, brandishing dangerous weapons, including machetes, cudgels and headed straight for his residence.

Earlier on Thursday the country home of the Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Hon. Konbowei Benson in Korkosei community of Southern Ijaw Local Government area of the State was reportedly attacked with improvised explosive device, IED, suspected to be made from dynamite by unknown masked men.

Just yesterday, attack on the former Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Rt. Hon. Boyelayefa Debekem, by suspected thugs was also reported.

Eye witness accounts said the Chairman of Ekeremor local government, Hon. Billy Tobiye and the PDP ward agent, Tams Alari as well as other notable members of the PDP and traditional ruler of Ekeremor, HRH Agbodo Gbaseimo escaped the assault.

APC has lost the Bayelsa election and should be prepared for a yet more painful loss in Rivers state.
They must not always vent their anger through violence cos Aso Rock will be too hot for Buharri if they try any funny one on Jonathan .

APC is after his life because they know that as long as GEJ lives, they can never win Bayelsa and Rivers State. But their plan will fail. God always wins.

Wow, is that how you think?

APC already has enough states and they are not desperate for an oil producing states as you are always assuming.

There are so many ways to get rid of gej and one of them is by arresting him for all his yam eating.
