You really are an enlightened soul.
And you're truly a Bloke with a capital B with a good taste in music, lol. Though, if the word "bloke" isn't, at least to foreign ears, just about the ugliest English slang word out there, I don't know what is tongue

Lol...different strokes.
I just like the fact that it's informal & terse. I'm a Nigerian's Nigerian, so it sorta defines me.
Good English btw.

You don't need an introduction if you're legendary.

Even a lay man knows one. You don't need to listen to rock n roll specially. tongue

Why do you choose not to act immature. If CNN reporters were crying, I bet they were wailing when Mj died.

Do you listen to Rock n Roll? If not learn to keep mute when ure an ignoramus.....even CNN reporters were reporting with a crying tone

Kindly name a Hit song/music written, sang or produced by Him. I'm not a fan of famous music artiste, especially those in the early 60's, so if you're indeed legendary....
At least I've heard of 'The Beatles'.
By the way...I'm in no way saying He wasn't popular.
see my post above.

Sing it

Cos there are many hero tracks out there
Google it and download. It was the song used @ London 2012 Olympics to usher out the British contingent during the opening ceremony

However, the word LEGENDARY should be used when it's absolutely necessary. For crying out loud, Michael Jackson, Bob Marley, need no introduction. That's who you call legendary.
He was a legend, period. Made music for 5 decades, hit after hit. Broaden your perspective.

.Golden generation
And the great mama that recently drove Obama to tears. Yes the 'legendress', Aretha Franklin. When these people go, its gone. Nothing to replace em. That's how you define a legend, irreplaceable.
Re: Legendary Singer David Bowie Dies At 69 by ogaju007(m): 8:45pm On Jan 11, 2016
You people will follow anything haaaa... Yes we've heard his songs a few times but that doesn't make him a legend in naija context. You people don't even like pop ah ah. May his soul rest in perfect peace. He is a legend for people that love pop music which hardly includes 0.01% of naija peeps. Stop gluing to anything. grin
Re: Legendary Singer David Bowie Dies At 69 by BIGTinfotech: 9:15pm On Jan 11, 2016
Bros na fight. Does making music for 5 decades qualify you to be a legend?

To think that your perspective is broadened smiley

God bless you Bros. Nigerians just subscribe to anything they hear on air.
No one says He won't be missed, but to say he's a legend and the average man still has to ask for songs produced or sang by Him is ridiculous.

You must not be as popular as cocacola to become a legend.....BBC, CNN and even Nigerian TV stations referred to him as a legend so your opinion doesn't count.... take it of leave it
Re: Legendary Singer David Bowie Dies At 69 by BIGTinfotech: 10:49pm On Jan 11, 2016
LEGEND: 1. an extremely famous or notorious person, especially in a particular field.
2. Very well known

Please learn to use the dictionary. I'm sure you're educated. As long as He needed an introduction to a few...He ain't one. There's a wide gap between popular and Legend.

Let's dance was a huge hit in 1983 and prior to that ' starman' which was recently used to great effect in the Ben Stiller film the secret life of Walther Mitty. His music might not suit the Nigerian music pallette though as it was pop and rock oriented

truth be told, in this age of technology there can never be legends created again because people are overwhelmed with so much technology so much so that their attention span is extremely shorter. people are looking for the next best thing. so there can never ever be legends created again. so if you are born around the mid nineties and upwards you can never understand or even imagine what a legend is because you have never experienced the era of no technology when legends were created. legends were created because there were not too many distractions and you had enough time to focus on your ' idol ' and there wasnt 24 hours news dishing the dirt on your idol. the point to all my rant is that if you are born after the mid-nineties you really need to keep quiet and withdraw from this conversation because you have absolutely no idea what a legend is. david bowie was a legend in the era when legends were created but of course today he is not well known because legends are no longer created in the fast paced world. there are many legends who are not well known today. bb king, gladys knight, peabo bryson, roberta flack, george benson, kool and the gang, the whispers, shalamar, prince, keith sweat etc etc

Love his version of the song 'Under pressure'... RIP. Our gals who have never known him will soon start putting 'crying' as personal message...
Under pressure was originally a duet between him and the group Queen. It was vanilla ice that stole the beat to make ice ice baby, and he was actually sued for copyright infringement.

Points to Note:

1. I wasn't born in the mid-nineties, not even in the nineties. So I do believe I know exactly what I'm saying.

2. To think you just shot yourself in the leg. You CANNOT be a Legend and not be well known. You simply don't get it!

There wasn't Internet during the eras of 'The Beatles, Diana Ross, Michael Jackson....
For the umpteenth time, being popular doesn't make one a Legend!

i think you are the confused one. like i told you ? the era of creating legends is over and all the old legends who are still alive are now relics of the past and forgotten. people dont have time for ' legends ' anymore. its a new world. so yes you can be a forgotten legend in todays fast paced world

The fact that you as an individual don't know David Bowie doesn't make him any less popular nor legendary. May be you need to read up a bit about him.
His music career - from the 60s till his death, reverberated across the globe. His songs made the charts & he had the ability to switch between music genres with success.
Notable pop stars (Kanye, Madonna, etc) as well as the British PM have paid glowing tributes & confessing to drawing inspiration from him.

This is someone whose passing is being reported & celebrated for days as news headline in major international news media & you are here contesting whether he's a legend?
