I have had this question on my mind and I think asking here would be nice. Is singing 'hip hop' a sin against GOD? I know GOD said 'let no evil communication come out of your mouth....' But there are some 'worldly songs that do not promote violence'pre-marital sex and so on.
The question really is 'is singing hip-hop songs a sin against GOD?

It strongly is

I believe there is no difference between the songs of king sunny ade,ebenezer Obey and co that old people listen to and the nice hip hop songs we listen to now

In the real sense, it is not what goes into you that defiles you but what comes out. However, these songs can stir up some defiling things within or even promote outward outright sins. So if one would listen to them, it must be done with caution.

They don't give glory to GOD. either a thing is for GOD or it is against Him, either a thing will glorify GOD, else it glorifies satan. Do away with all things that do not glorify GOD. The Bible says in all we do, we should do all to the glory of GOD - 1 Cor 10:31. Most of these worldly songs blaspheme GOD, others glorify satan in hidden lyrics and the rest (kanye west song for example) . GOD expects us to be Holy as He is -1 Peter 1:16, and holiness means TOTAL consecration to the LORD, without any spot, sin or defilement whatsoever.

What do you think of Jo el's inspirational song- hold on....dprince' on your own...olamide's responsibility. These songs and many more are done to inspire people. Most Gospel songs don't inspire people to work hard and be rich. They only talk about praising GOD and sometimes you feel down when the last thing you think of is praying. Songs go along way in making people happy

Not talking about the provocative songs now. I am talking of cool songs that make you think deep done by hip hop acts.
Take a look at Korede Bello's Godwin. I think he did this song as a natural hip hop actist but this song has gone deeper than that

Desist from them all. Play song to glorify GOD and not to suit or enjoy yourself. Bow to the will of the Father and crucify thy will. Desist from all worldly songs and pleasures, get inspiration from the word of GOD, that's what makes you a Christian . U will be glad u did someday

Ops, to me and to my own understanding of things; hip hop is not a sin. Hip hop is another way of expression or expressing thing through sound thereby leading to music. Hip hop is a branch in music.

Hip hop is to us, what R and B is. The same with Ragae, highlife, apala fuji juju and so on.

In other word music should not be condemned because of it genre. The content, that is the lyric or wordings is what should matter.

Is the hip hop music being play or listening to advances the establishment of God kingdom and its righteousness here on earth, does it glorify God and edify the body of Christ Jesus? These should be your question, your concern not the brand or type of music.
