The recent announcement by the governors of the owner states of Odua group of companies is not only commendable, it is a right step in the right direction.
Given the fact that the owners of Lagos state are the Yorubas, it is imperative that they benefit from the largess of the efforts of our past leaders who decided to establish several industries across the length and breadth of Yorubaland in order to create employment for the sons and daughters of Yorubaland.
It is a valid fact that majority of the present day Lagos was formerly part of the then Western state.
About seventeen out of the twenty local government areas in Lagos today were part of the Western state the.
Since the then Western state also generated revenue from areas like Ikeja and co, they indigenes of Lagos deserve to be among the owners of Odua Group of Companies.
I hope the Yoruba speaking part of Kofi and Kwara, Itsekiru and the Edos will one day have this gesture extended to them.
