There are some silence that need be broken and NYSC award is one........

I just hope we would do better when we get to the helm of affairs.

NYSC, AND PMB abeg which way?

When una wan give out the list of the supposed 60 winners of the 2013 batch C, 2014 batch A and 2014 batch B presidential honorary award?

State governments no longer see reasons to engage sound minds who are after the progress of the states.

I how ever vow to continue to seek the good of everyone that cross my path.

GOD BLESS NAIJA.
Amen.

Lol, funny chap

You have come this far so you have nothing to worry about, The award will always come, just relax and go about other activities,

I trust you have a brilliant mind and will engage yourself productively pending when a date is fixed,

I think the excitement is even doubled when there's no anxiety and all of a sudden, you receive a text or a call to come to Abuja.

PMB HAS BEING TRAVELLING OVER THE LAND AND SEA NOW..... let's wait till he'd campaign for second term and he'd probably do as his brother JEG did. LOL

Lol, It would seem so, Or perhaps, those trips are priority at the moment, don't you think?

The ceremony though, could be closer than ever.

When you reminisce and think upon the doggedness and wholehearted dedication of some ex-corps members to impacting the lives in their host communities....

Its just saddening to know that what is due them stands the chance of being suppressed or politicized by vested interests.

However, its possible the ceremony is hinged on the passing of the budget..

I feel if the necessary steps are taken by all concerned parties post budget approval, it could happen anytime soon.

My guess

@objectives.....
you may be right 100% but it still shows how little the present day leaders value the progressive youths.....

before I got the job I'm on now, everywhere I go to with my CV, the question I was asked was 'why the state government didn't offer you an employment?'.......

until I was smart enough to skip the aspect of expecting a national award did I get a job, because they are just scared of me leaving the job anytime.

low and behold a year gone and we are still waiting!

kudos to all expectant awardees who decided to find something doing pending...

we are winners not just because of the awards, but because we are the ones the world is waiting for......

I'M HOPEFUL!

At your leisure, You mind sharing your experience during your service year and how you decided you wanted to make an impact?

Just to keep the thread alive..

Cheers!

Good morning,

My service year experience.

The desire to help people around me had being in me since my secondary school days, then we were asked to write an essay one 'My future ambition', I wrote that I wanted to become a Philanthropist ( I took a clue from a Northern Alhaji who helped the needy). My teacher didn't score me, only checked my M.A, sentence structure, corrected my grammatical errors........... She was probably expecting to see me write Lawyer, Doctor, Engineer, etc like the rest did (I was in SS1, Science Class).

I was sad that she didn't understood me, but glad she didn't mark me wrong.

So I began to help people one at a time, ranging from kind words to sacrificing my lunch......

University days still, I continued...... though my finger got burnt severally.....

The first thing I did during my service year was to take up the call to resume at a rural camp with no good road network, electricity, nor GSM network (MTN came the month I concluded my service....... thanks to them)., despite being the only corps member posted there (a female for that matter).

When the State Coordinator and my L.G.I knew this, they wanted to relocate me but I said no........ (Why?)

Getting to the school I was posted ( the only school in the community), the student rally round me as if I was a President, some were shouting Corper while others were shouting OLOPA(police)............

I could no longer request for rejection letter, which my boss was willing to give because of my gender........

Instead I asked for my accommodation......

I cultivated over 1 hectare of cassava plantation, proceeds from which was for the argumentation of school fees of children of the displaced people from Northern Nigeria who came to the community.......

I constructed animal husbandry section for the school.

sensitised the community members about Ebola, Tetanus, and Breast cancer....

trained students on production of Liquid soap, Izal disinfectant, and 3 months fashion designing........

I donated bottled liquid soaps to community members to mark hand washing day

donated disinfectant and bed spreads to the Local health center.

constructed a bus stop for the community....

all these above are among about 21 documented projects I did......

some of the undocumented ones are below

I sowed father Christmas costume for the school Free of Charge

Took the children on excursion to the state capital's Radio Station to participate on a program for students......( these children's smiles and joy I WILL NEVER FORGET)

I had the best service experience...........

Thanks for making me recall them...

My best is yet to come......

I STILL WANT TO BECOME A PHILANTHROPIST!

HAPPY SUNDAY.

I left out names of places and locations on purpose....... you know SOCIAL MEDIA PALAVA..... LOL

Lol, Absolutely, most times people don't seem to understand why others choose to do something different, they naturally expect everyone to toe the same line,

She definitely would be
proud of you if she came across you today

So I began to help people one at a time, ranging from kind words to sacrificing my lunch......

University days still, I continued...... though my finger got burnt severally

Yea, One of the major cons of being selfless, the good thing is, just like you, being burnt seems to push a select few further down that road of philanthropy, no disrespect to those who gave up though, one would totally understand if they aren't as selfless after being b
urnt on several occasions

The first thing I did during my service year was to take up the call to resume at a rural camp with no good road network, electricity, nor GSM network (MTN came the month I concluded my service....... thanks to them)., despite being the only corps member posted there (a female for that matter).

Lol @ MTN, Staying back was just a very nice and selfless thing to do

When the State Coordinator and my L.G.I knew this, they wanted to relocate me but I said no........ (Why?)

Getting to the school I was posted ( the only school in the community), the student rally round me as if I was a President, some were shouting Corper while others were shouting OLOPA(police)............

The reason for this isn't far fetched, most children in rural communities face a certain degree of lack of exposure, exposure to basic things that should be made available by the authorities concerned but for one reason or the other don't get them, so once they sight a stranger who's likely to be around for a while, its like hope renewed, something like that

You did really well, exceptionally well, and it makes more sense to know that the focus was on educational exposure, health and development for the children, and the joy, and appreciation that they show, nothing short of the very icing on the cake,

I had the best service experience...........

That sense of fulfillment and deep satisfaction, priceless.

Thanks for making me recall them...

My best is yet to come......

I STILL WANT TO BECOME A PHILANTHROPIST!

HAPPY SUNDAY.

Thanks too, for sharing, you still want to become a philanthropist?? I think you are one already, perhaps you want to do more

I'm almost certain there's a lot ahead, for you, probably not as soon as you'd expect, but somewhere in the near future, Happy Sunday.

Lol, yea, I can relate to that.
Re: Fixed Date For 2015 NYSC Presidential Honour Award by Objectives: 12:14pm On Mar 20, 2016
Part I

Let me see how well I can recall,

I was hoping for a place quite distant from home as I really craved that experience, not that home wasn't good enough, but the desire to feel life away from the south was just that strong, a way of life completely alien to me,

I was fortunate, as I was deployed to one of such states, calm, serene, no security concerns at all, camping was over, and I picked up my letter without hesitation [as per, hope this place has light o, hope its not far o, hope there's a bank there o etc] I located my fellow corps members sent to same L.G.A and we hit the road early enough,

I had observed on our way, that on entering the L.G.A, the roads were well tarred, motorable and without port-holes, it was a surprise as I had expected very little considering it was a core northern area, and then infrastructures were quite on the average, I was beginning to feel convinced that the standard of living would be on same page, I was wrong.

I'm impressed by your deeds and highly awed by your diction though sadly, you're one of the few exceptions of modern day Nigerian youths. I'm challenged!
Kudos to you for a job well done.

@mufuteeeee.......
Thanks for the compliment, the diction is as a result hard work.....

I've always being challenging myself to learn.

Even now I'm currently working on being a rapid speaker of the British English....

My colleagues at work finds it difficult to believe that I schooled in Nigeria.

Maybe the zeal is from me being exposed to moderating cooperate and official events.

Bros, I believe more of my kind still exist in this generation.

May God bless Nigeria. Amen
