Isn’t couples meant to do everything together?
doesn’t that include Going to the same church?

well as my topic prevails, there seems to be certain couples who do not attend the same church, the attend different denominations.

i have seen cases where the Man of the house attends catholic church while his wife Goes for Pentecostal .

Did the make such plans and agreement before marriage?
will it not have a huge effect on their children?

this type of situation tend to make the man have lesser control over his wife,
it will make the children pick a side, and that’s were Favouritism comes in.
Issues like this have led to the disintegration of certain marriages, makes the religious life of the children in the family very low.

What is your say on this issue?
what do you think is the major cause of it and how do we curb it?

As long as both of them are cool with it. No wahala. But, i foresee either the husband's pastor or the wife pastor not cool with it cos the tithe and offering thats supposed to come in to one of the church goes elsewhere.

Imagine the doctrine collision in a situation whereby the father attend Baptist, mother a deeper life member and children are winners ... The house eh.

I see church as a hustle ground maybe dats y I haven't been to church for abt 7-8month now. But I bliv dere is God& he gat my back

Bad idea if parents attend diffrent churches.. I as a christian will love if my wife is a muslim and she still wants to practice her religion better than both christians attending different churches.

My take is that they re Uwa Mmebi Couples..

The man may be the head of the family but not the Spiritual head of the family..

It would give rise to division amongst the kids as some might prefer going with either of the parents to church..

As long as churches continue to be divided so will this problem continue to stay. Over 10 000 denominations in the World that mostly disagree all the time and can not even marry each other due to doctrines . It's not quite often you hear Deeper life get married to Catholic, Jehovah witness married to Christ Embassy, Winners to Adventist and the list goes on.

This is just sad and dumb at the same time for a faith(christianity) that prides itself as not a confused set of people, whereas they are just plainly confused.

That shows lack of unity...and besides, it's like they were forced on each other

infact, the matter is about to split me am my girl. the mum insist I must marry her in Catholic, I agreed, after that she is now saying I must leave my own church to attend Catholic with my wife to be. how now,shouldn't I be the one to chose which denominations to attend with my wifey?

what if there is a particular doctrine of a church I don't believe in, so would you want me to go because I married someone from there, or would you say I shouldn't have married the man/woman? abeg, e nor mattar so far we are both Christians.

logically I would say it's understanding that matters. But who am I to judge an issue I'm not qualified to answer?
