somebody asked what this was doing in the politics section and not her diary or the nysc section. i think we all know what the op is up to as you can see from the response of her fellow flatinoids. op, what's the name of the school and which local government is it located in? how long did it take you to compose this fiction? 2 Likes |

raumdeuter: I doubt if those bolded words are true, because yorubas arent putting in work. The surest way to ensure Igbos arent in your faces is to strategise on how to be separate from them. And that comes with the splitting of the country. Yorubas, last time ichecked aren't even making any effort to support their claims of not wanting anything with Igbos. How can you be in same country with people you hate, people who hate you aswell. More interestingly is why the Yorubas dont want to leave Nigeria. Support the Igbos to leave or attempt to leave and see Igbos stand beside you in unity of purpose. Either way, you achieve your wishes. 7 Likes |

@ raumdeuter There are numerus boreholes available in Ahiazu-Mbaise for the villagers. Some villagers still make do with stream water for washing. The Afor-Oru, Afor-Ogbe, Nkwo-Ala and some other markets in that axis are beehive of activities on their market days, attracting traders from far and near. The market days are usually inundated with much vehicular traffic making the roads almost impassable. The commodities found in these markets ranges from farm produce, house items to industrial wares. There are also abattoirs. There is a hospital owned by a Yoruba man in that vicinity. The hospital is located between Afor-Oru market and Nkwo-Ala market. Ahiara junction is a busy business area with banks, bus terminus and garages. Ahiara junction is a 4-way interconnection of roads from Owerri to Umuahia and from Ngor-Okpala to Ehime-Mbano (Aba branch). The LGA is littered with business men and women and many artisans. You can find petrol filling stations, mechanic workshops. This is the little I can remember about the place. Feel free to confirm the aforementioned places and facts. 4 Likes |

I can't believe no one here even expressed any outrage at the fact that a man was constantly raping his daughter hence her penchant for running away from home. She could have run into ritualists that would then kill her and harvest body parts for their evil activities! I can't believe no one was bothered about the nonchalant attitude of d teachers towards d students further destroying the already poor educational standards. I can't believe how some see it as an excuse to display tribal sentiments and reduce it to a dirty comparison of tribes...trying to defend the Yoruba tribe from a perceived attack by an Igbo person...how? Still I shouldn't be surprised cos it only points to one truth that can never be hidden...One Nigeria is a sham n scam! Split already and let's be 'friendly' neighbours with our territorial integrity intact. Good gracious! 11 Likes |

dmater: The hospital in front of the Local Govt? The Yoruba man even named his kids Ibo names I think he is from Ondo or Ekiti The men of Ahiazu are the most lazy I have ever seen. Its the girls who go to school hoping to flee to Yorubaland upon graduation. The place is filled with old people. Most of the villages in Umu okrika is connected by bushpath There is usually acute water shortage in dry season most ppl there put funnels on the roof to collect rain water into a pit which they use in dry season The Afor-oru market is filled with vultures which I heard the people eat 1 Like |

My heart bleeds for Funmi. Abused at home, abused in school yet no credible law enforcement agents to put a stop to it. Modified: I just read the comments on the first page. What is wrong with some of you? I'm yet to see the purported bigotry in the OP. Why is there a need to put up a defense? No one is discussing the abuse. No one is discussing the emotional turmoil Funmi is passing through. No one is discussing the apathetic approach to the issue by the teachers. This is an attitude that has, unfortunately, become quite common among many Nigerians when it comes to abuse. No one is even discussing the ineffectiveness of the police force. No one is discussing the resultant lack of justice. Must everything be viewed with a tribal lens? Why are some of you so messed up? Is there no limit to this weak-mindedness? 8 Likes 1 Share |

OPCNAIRALAND: The moral of the lesson is that Yoruba parents want discipline for their kids. For all you know, they would have cained the kids at home, but seek extra punishment at school. Then if your Igbo corper sees caning as absurd, she must be a spoilt brat. 1 Like |

raumdeuter: The hospital is indeed located opposite the LGA secretariat. You cannot dispute the fact that many old people retire to their villages. And the issue is not peculiar to Ahiazu. Before the proliferation of bore-holes the people built large reservoirs of under-ground, concrete tanks to collect rain water during the wet season. Such concrete tanks are quite expensive to build for the ordinary man. At present that practice is no longer in vogue. It is still the Mbaise men and artisans that own and control the various businesses, the mechanic workshops, electrical workshops, abattoirs, petrol filling stations. Just like the women the men in that area cannot be termed lazy. Many of the men are great hustlers who seek greener pastures in Gabon, Cameroon, Calabar, Port-Harcourt and some other cities. Some prominent Nollywood actors and actresses are from Mbaise - Rita Dominic, Genevieve Nnaji, K.O.K, Okey Bakassi etc. The last Foreign Affairs minister in the last dispensation hails from there. In Igboland the Mbaise people are generally known for their smartness, astuteness and boldness. Gullible people are scarce amongst them and they are difficult to be cheated upon. Note that the Great Ahiara Declaration by Ojukwu in 1967 took place in that area. You are bound to find the BFR flags and insignias in some nook and cranny of the land. That will tell you how passionate and ambitious the people can be. You can confirm the aforestated information. 2 Likes |
