who can place them on that minimum wage scale or determine what they get.
they only can move that, but we knw its over their dead body.
If buhari cant becos of ths democracy rule shi!t, i have lost hope 4ever.
they are just a cabal that hide on constitution they dont care abt.
i hate to bring politics on ths, but pdp gave us ths wrong democratic foundation, obj time turned them into what we see coupled with gej docility to be that strong voice that gives party direction.
They have gone too far, they got the power and they only can ammend laws.
They have become so lawless that they have made themselve to be their own law

Funny Enough... No one has ever heard that a NASS member has been charge to court over money laundering or corruption... Yet they are the richest citizens...

They've been reported to be the highest paid senators in the world...

The red and green carpet members do nothing but to move motions and make easy decisions that a creche pupil will make and yet earns 1/9 of the country's wealth...

This country is rich...but we're suffering... They'll say, if 5k is given to poor citizens that it'll make them lazy... Silly excuses that doesn't hold weight!

Shame to Nigeria... Shame to Buhari.. Shame to APC
don't systematically include Buhari, you were happy when Bukola Saraki took over the senate as the senate president , Buhari was trying to put someone that would help the NIGERIA populace but Saraki from the backdown turn the table around ... Until we learn to fight for ourselves ... God bless NIGERIA ...

honestly they are the major problem of nigeria, the honorables are supposed to keep the executive in check and speak for the people but all they do is speak for their own bellies
Re: Unemployment: NASS Members Are Part Of The Problem by Bobbybube(m): 10:03am On Jan 30, 2016
Once upon a time during the last general elections, I was an ardent APC supporter.
Unfortunately I am ashamed of myself. A government of vendetta with no solid agenda/ roadmap nor plans on how to achieve them.
This is truly change.

....for the worst

If They Are Really Sincere...
Sincerely, if the National Assembly members are truly concerned with the rising spate of unemployment, they would simply cut down their immoral N10 billion monthly earning by 50% and establish empowerment fund where they'll channel 50% of what they currently earn I.e N5billion/month. These funds will be executed in ways that will create jobs, promote job creation in the society, and will be supervised by the NASS. This is a means to show their sincerity, not the mockery of a rhetoric motion that is aimed at mocking Nigeria youths and scoring cheap political points that they aim to use to exploit the masses in the election.

This has been my thoughts, nnaa. I didn't know that there was someone of like mind.

Senators, Honourables, State legislators, LG chairmen & councillors: What essentially do these guys do? How have they bettered the lives of the populace? How will we not resort to a dictatorial paradigm when the law caters largely to a bunch of (pseudo)lawmakers? If there comes an urgent need to bypass the legislative arm to bring radical change to this nation, then so be it!

That's why it is foolish of the Nigerian youths to insult one another on social media, while the thieves they are fighting for don't care about one another's political divide.
Re: Unemployment: NASS Members Are Part Of The Problem by Analysiscorner: 11:28am On Jan 30, 2016
One would have thought that with a new party in power, that the National assembly can cut down on their budget. But that's where they have agreement.

Since they are the lawmakers themselves, who then will change the constitution against their greedy interest?

Can other arms of govt do anything to constitutionally cut the NA to size?

Do we now embrace coup d'etat or revolution as the only panacea?

That will only create room for dictatorship.
how much dictatorship is greater than the one being practiced by those criminals n plebs in the national assembly ? my broda , u wld leave that one 2 be decided when tins are done right, but as u stand now along with every nigerian listening. u have a more greater disaster in the national assembly operated by this goons than any other open fraud, stewpidity n impunity ever being operated in the history of any country claiming 2 operate in the most fraudulent manner watever it intend 2 call a democracy. And the worst is that they operate this i-service in such open shambolic farce, trying so hard 2 keep away the reality of their immeasurable/ unjustifiable circus bounty, n at occasions defending their shame, from the glaring eyes of the very individuals they claim 2 serve, wyl the nigerians look along. most of dem wanna place their leprous fingers on it with the attempt 2 justify their vile on d most awkward reasons ever phantomable. A system they have clearly inherited n open handedly carried along from the colonial practice, because of the loots they hv allocated 2 themselves n now the independence have been given, yet the socalled criminals who should be using this common wealth for the interest of their ppl, have chosen 2 do even more worse than the colonialist themselves , wyl they use thesame law 2 rob the ppl. knowing the kind of moju moju , they play around there. They should even be the ones sacrificing and defending 4 the interest of the ppl. rather they are the bane of the nigerian ppl. rouges who should be setting the country right, n even pointing a government n the presidency solely to the welfare of the ppl, with them being the frontliners of the example a system n policy shld follow. but rather this goons in the assembly are the very problem of governance in nigeria. look at those folks in the crazy house chambers n tell me a majority of those felons hv the interest of ur country at heart or even the interest of their immediate community members or relatives? i hv said it. this goons are the broken law. n until we nigerians, not jst the presidency, rise to make them bow to wat they hv been assigned for n accountable for every reason they exist in the corridors of governance. force respect n fear for nigerians into the mouth and down the throat of this goons. make them overhaul that entire broken law they claim 2 practise. n do the real job of passing deligently n commitedly the right laws that suit the interest of development n welfare of the ppl n nation they have been robbing for the past 16years n counting. those goons wld keep thinking the are having a filled day.

TonyeBarcanista:
We don't really need to scrap the bicameral legislature. Part time status and placing them on minimum wage will solve a lot. Also their legislative Aides should be drawn from the civil service.
I would favor a unicameral legislature comprising 255 members, with the FCT being represented by 3 legislators.

The legislators' pay can only be adjusted every 4 years based on the average cost of living in the preceding years. The Senators shouldn't earn more than N3.5 million/month, from which they would pay their legislative aides and domestic maids. Ridiculous items such as "newspaper allowance" and "hardship allowance" should be scraped.

Finally, term-limits should be introduced. The members of the unicameral legislature should serve a maximum of 3 terms (ie 12 years).
