Saraki's Appeal lacks merit, Trial at CCT to continue

Breaking News: You must face CCT trial, Supreme Court tells Saraki

The Supreme Court on Friday told the President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, that he must return to the Code of Conduct Tribunal to face trial in the suit instituted against him over false declaration of assets.

The Supreme Court dismissed all the grounds Saraki brought for determination by the apex court in seeking to discontinue his trial by the CCT.

In a judgement delivered early on Friday, the apex court held that Saraki’s suit lacked merit and as such he should return to the Tribunal to answer to the charges against him.

The request by Saraki to declare the sitting of just two members of the CCT as invalid was overruled by the Supreme Court.

The apex court said by virtue of Section 28 of the Interpretation Act, the sitting of two members was valid.

The apex court also said the intention of the law establishing the CCT is to make its proceedings criminal.

It also said the Tribunal has quasi jurisdiction and so can issue bench warrant contrary to the position of Saraki.

Re: Supreme Court Rules: Saraki's Appeal Lacks Merit,Trial At CCT Continues by Rexceedo:
I predicted the outcome when I saw Justice Samuel Walter Presides.
This piece threw Joseph Daodu counsel to Saraki off balance;

"....the CCT is a court of criminal jurisdiction, albeit limited jurisdiction. The immediate question whether it is a court or not. There is no inherent difference between a court and a tribunal. The only difference is that tribunal in most cases handle Special cases. The tribunal has power to impose sanctions according to the law. It is a court with specific criminal jurisdiction.
..... I find no merit in the appeal, it is hereby DISMISS"

Two option is left for him either he resigns honourable or will be ejected legally...!!!

Good decision from the supreme court. Saraki will now have to defend himself before the CCT. No more silly games and hiding behind frivolous appeal, he must tell the tribunal how he acquired all those properties that belonged to him and why he refused to disclose some of them in his asset declaration form.

The wailers who have accused Buhari of shielding Saraki from prosecution can now eat their words. Buhari is a democrat who does not interfere in the judicial process. All corruption cases will be followed to its logical conclusions and justice will be done at the end of the day.

Joseph Daudu abi she na Dauda, you have failed this time around.

All what this Senior Advocate of Cr****ls is good at is throwing technicalities at the path of justice.

He did same for the Abachas, tried for Saraki, he is also the lawyer of Dansuki.

A lot of mofos have been throwing tantrums at Mr President that why has Dansuki's trial not started.

Ironically they are the ones also crying for rule of law to be followed. That Dauda has been trying his usual tricks by using technicalities to delay the case going to proper trial, but he'll definitely fail.

Ruling will be given on Mon on that Dansuki's case. It must proceed to proper trial just like Metuh's case.

All yam eaters must face trial. They also have a right to defend themselves in court.

He can only run from the hands of law, he can.never hide.

1,000 Samules of his cannot run from God.

Interesting.

The supreme court justices have been receiving lots of 'backlashes' from Nigerians over their recent judgments on election petitions.

They needed to do something to appease Nigerians. So they
1) Very early in the morning before 11;00am delivered Judgment
2) Delivered a judgement 'for Nigerians' now instead of 'against' Nigerians.

Its a case of trying to save faces huh

No zombie is actually crying that the supreme court is perverting the course of justice. Useless fellows, if it favours them, it's a great thing, if not it's a miscarriage of justice.

If dem like make dem sentence Saraki to death e no concern me the guy na thief before so nothing spoil. I only wish Saraki to emulate Mr. Esther Rotimi Amaechi that doesn't like money.

Do you have any problem with waging a war against corruption?

And what is zombeic about supporting the government attempt to stamp out corruption and thievery - steps that will ultimately culminate in a better life and country for us all?

Should we take your statement to mean that you just stumbled on the word "zombie" and rushed to use it without first finding out what it means?

Dino is currently enlisting the excorts and corrupt like-minds ready with their placards and banners. ****
It's gonna be a series of shameful, bumpy rides from the NASS to the CCT.
